Position Summary At Upper Deck Bar & Grill, our servers are more than order takers—they create memorable guest experiences. Every guest should feel welcomed, appreciated, and excited to return. Our goal is to provide fast, friendly, knowledgeable service while maximizing guest satisfaction through exceptional hospitality and attention to detail. Primary Responsibilities Guest Experience
  • Greet every guest within 60 seconds with a genuine smile and positive attitude.
  • Introduce yourself and make every table feel welcomed.
  • Offer beverage suggestions immediately, including cocktails, draft beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Demonstrate menu knowledge and confidently answer questions about food, drinks, ingredients, and daily specials.
  • Make personalized recommendations based on guest preferences.
  • Create an enjoyable dining experience from arrival to departure. Table Service Standards
  • Take drink orders promptly and accurately.
  • Deliver beverages quickly and verify accuracy.
  • Take food orders carefully, repeating orders when necessary.
  • Enter all orders accurately into the POS system.
  • Ensure food is delivered to the correct guest.
  • Conduct a quality check within 2 minutes or 2 bites after food arrives.
  • Resolve any guest concerns immediately or involve a manager when needed.
  • Maintain attentive but non-intrusive service throughout the meal.
Table Touches Servers are expected to maintain consistent interaction with every table.
Required table touches include:
  • Greeting
  • Drink delivery
  • Food order confirmation
  • Food quality check
  • Beverage refill checks
  • Additional drink suggestions
  • Dessert offering
  • Final satisfaction check before presenting the check
  • Thank guests sincerely and invite them back.
Guests should never have to search for their server. Sales & Upselling Servers are expected to increase sales while enhancing the guest experience.
Examples include:
  • Suggesting appetizers
  • Recommending premium cocktails
  • Promoting featured draft beers
  • Offering wine pairings
  • Recommending desserts
  • Suggesting after-dinner drinks
  • Encouraging a second or third beverage Upselling should always be helpful—not pushy. Teamwork
  • Assist fellow servers whenever possible.
  • Help run food and beverages.
  • Support bartenders, hosts, bussers, and kitchen staff.
  • Maintain positive communication with all team members.
  • Be willing to help wherever needed to ensure smooth operations.
Dining Room Maintenance Servers are responsible for maintaining clean, organized sections.
Responsibilities include:
  • Pre-bussing throughout the meal
  • Removing empty plates and glasses promptly
  • Keeping tables clean and organized
  • Resetting tables quickly
  • Maintaining clean floors around tables
  • Stocking service stations
  • Rolling silverware
  • Refilling ice, cups, napkins, and condiments
  • Completing opening and closing side work Accuracy & Efficiency
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Verify every order before delivering.
  • Process guest payments accurately.
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions responsibly.
  • Report shortages or guest issues immediately. Professional Standards Servers are expected to:
  • Arrive on time and ready to work.
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance.
  • Wear the complete required uniform.
  • Display a positive attitude.
  • Treat every guest and team member with respect.
  • Maintain composure during busy periods.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures. Menu Knowledge Servers must maintain current knowledge of:
  • Food menu
  • Daily specials
  • Seasonal features
  • Draft beer selection
  • Cocktails
  • Bourbon and whiskey offerings
  • Wine selections
  • Happy Hour promotions
  • Current events and entertainment Performance Expectations Successful servers consistently:
  • Deliver outstanding hospitality.
  • Build relationships with guests.
  • Maintain high guest satisfaction scores.
  • Accurately handle orders and payments.
  • Keep sections clean and organized.
  • Work efficiently under pressure.
  • Communicate effectively with the team.
  • Promote food and beverage sales naturally.
  • Represent Upper Deck Bar & Grill with professionalism and pride. Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry trays weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Bend, reach, stoop, and climb stairs throughout the shift.
  • Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
