We are seeking an experienced and passionate Bartneder / Server to join our front of house team for a soon-to-open restaurant in Elkhart, IL just 20 minutes outside of Springfield IL. Our concept is housed in an old historic building with a small, intimate, bar & dining space with a exposed brick and wood accents, featuring a German / Bavarian influence with steaks, potatoes and other comfort food. This is a unique opportunity to be part of something from the ground up and help shape the hospitality culture from day one. Owners are experienced and successful in other ventures. Bartending Duties Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Provide excellent customer service and maintain a friendly atmosphere. Verify customer age and follow alcohol service laws. Take food and beverage orders accurately. Maintain cleanliness of the bar, equipment, and service areas. Monitor guest behavior and handle intoxicated patrons appropriately. Restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, and supplies. Serving Duties Greet guests and provide friendly, attentive service Take food and beverage orders accurately Explain menu items, specials, and drink options Check identification and follow all alcohol-service laws Process payments and handle cash responsibly Maintain clean tables, bar areas, and service stations Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house team members Assist with opening, closing, and side-work duties Ensure compliance with health, safety, and liquor regulations. Monitor sales, cash handling, and daily financial reports. Assist with promotions, events, and marketing initiatives. RequirementsEducation & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous bartending / serving experience (2-5 years preferred). Supervisory or management experience preferred. Bartending certification or alcohol service certification BASSETT required. Skills Excellent communication and customer service skills. Knowledge of food, cocktails, beer, wine, and beverage trends. Experience with POS systems and cash handling. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Strong organizational and inventory management abilities. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Comfortable working in a busy, fast paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience bartending, serving and/pr managing Knowledge of local liquor laws and regulations. Experience with scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
