Job Description

Overview The Highlands is looking for energetic servers to join our team! This is a full or part-time, seasonal position. Responsibilities are to ensure that guests have an enjoyable dining experience by providing quality guest service. Servers work in the front of the business taking orders, serving food and drinks, and assisting guests with all other needs. All servers must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Takes initiative to get any and all jobs completed accurately and proficiently and is someone who doesn't understand the term "not my job." We are currently seeking new team members for the following locations:
Main Dining Room:
Located in the Main Lodge where we serve breakfast to get the day started!
Zoo Bar:
Located in the Day Lodge and the "happening" place for lunch!

Long-Term Thinking Excellence in Execution Attitude is Everything Develop Create People Serve our team members first so they can, in turn, serve our guests and community Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities (60-80% of time) Welcome and greet guests. Make all our guests feel comfortable and let them know you are there to personally take care of them. Inform guests of specials and menu changes. Take food and beverage orders from guests and enter orders in our point-of-sale system which relays orders to the kitchen and bar. Deliver food and beverages from the kitchen and bar to guests in a timely matter. Make recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy. Upsell food and beverage items by using suggestive selling techniques. Answer questions regarding regions where food products come from, and how food is prepared. Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment. Maintain clean service areas. Monitor and observe guest's dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests. Prepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, process credit card charges, or make change (if applicable). Assist server assistant with clearing and resetting tables as needed. Secondary Responsibilities (20-40% of time) Answer questions about our food, beverages, and other restaurant functions and services. Assist fellow servers as situations arise as needed. Answer questions about The Highlands and surrounding areas Additional Duties Other non-essential duties may be assigned. Additional responsibilities as assigned by your manager Qualifications 18 years or older ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) 1+ year of front-of-house or hospitality experience preferred Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and collaborate with a team Basic cash handling skills Availability for mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
