Job Description
Job Summary Join our restaurant team as an Expo / Food Runner , where you will play a critical role in keeping service organized, accurate, and moving efficiently. In this fast-paced position, you will coordinate finished food between the kitchen and dining room, ensure orders are complete and properly presented, and communicate closely with both kitchen and front-of-house staff. Your attention to detail, sense of urgency, and ability to stay organized under pressure will help ensure every dish reaches the guest correctly and at the highest possible quality. Duties Organize and coordinate completed food orders at the expo station to ensure dishes are accurate, complete, and properly presented before leaving the kitchen. Read and verify tickets, checking each order for correct items, modifications, sides, sauces, and special requests. Communicate clearly with cooks, servers, bartenders, and management to coordinate timing and resolve order issues quickly. Run food from the kitchen to the correct table promptly and professionally, ensuring proper table numbers and guest orders. Monitor the expo line and prioritize orders based on ticket times, course timing, and direction from management. Inspect plates before they leave the kitchen, ensuring proper presentation, portioning, temperature, and overall quality. Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked expo and service area throughout the shift. Assist servers with pre-bussing, clearing dishes, and other service-related tasks when needed. Communicate any delays, missing items, incorrect orders, or quality concerns to the appropriate team member immediately. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures. Assist with opening and closing duties, including stocking service areas, cleaning equipment, and maintaining the overall organization of the kitchen and dining room. Experience Previous restaurant or food service experience is preferred but not required. Previous experience as a food runner, server, expo, host, or other front-of-house position is a plus. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately read and organize multiple orders at once. Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant environment. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with both kitchen and front-of-house staff. Ability to remain organized and composed during busy service periods. Must be able to prioritize tasks, respond to changing service needs, and work effectively under pressure. Must be able to safely carry plates, trays, and food items throughout the restaurant. Schedule Requirements Must have weekend availability. Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Must be available to work during high-volume service periods, including dinner and peak weekend shifts.
