Join the Event Services Team at The Castle and be part of a lot of Special Days! With over 80 weddings a year, we are the premiere wedding venue in Central Ohio! Please note that this position is needed based on events scheduled. Events will be minimal January - April (1-2 shifts a week), but will be steady May -December (3-5 shifts a week). Your schedule will be varied, though will mostly consist of weekends and evenings. Position Summary The Event Server is the front-line face of our Event Services Team. As a part of that Team they are a key part of creating incredible Event experiences here at The Castle including Weddings! The Event Server performs all tasks associated with setting up, serving, and breaking down of function rooms where banquet food service activities are performed.
He / She
is responsible for the prompt, courteous, smooth, and efficient service of food and beverage to guests during banquet and outdoor functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Review and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) at the beginning of each shift to ensure banquet rooms are set as per the customer request. Read and execute specifications listed on the Banquet Event Orders. Carry service trays with up to nine (9) covered plates. Prepare salad plates. Maintaining proper dining experience to a high standard, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in event restroom. Greet all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting. Have a good understanding and able to communicate products and service-related query to guests when asked. Delivering Alcoholic and Nonalcoholic drinks for service to your customers' table. Remove china, glassware, silverware, etc. from tables at the conclusion of the meal period and deliver to the stewarding area. Clear tables, Assist in tear down and set-up of chairs and tables for the upcoming events. Ensure guest satisfaction throughout the meal service. Respond to guest requests in a friendly, timely, and efficient manner. Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor. Maintain high standard of cleanliness by sweeping and mopping after events, clean work area and equipment. Monitor tableware to ensure it is presentable to guests. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas. High Attention to Detail. Assist others with side work including, but not limited to cleaning, stocking, folding silverware, etc. Catering Experience. Catering experience, especially as serving in the catering industry will translate directly into skills as a banquet server. Skilled in tray carrying, plate serving, and pouring with professional polish and poise. Reporting to work in a neat and clean uniform; maintaining well-groomed hair and personal hygiene as established by company policy. Performing other duties as directed. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Basic mathematical skills; ability to make change Basic reading and writing skills Basic computer skills Excellent communication skills Multi-task oriented Knowledge of workplace safety procedures Must be able to suggestively sell food and beverage items Catering Experience/Serving Experience. Customer Service Experience. Banquet service etiquette. Clear tables and clean banquet halls after events. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lifts and carries tubs and cases weighing up to 75 pounds. The employee must frequently communicate with expediters and servers and read orders on tickets. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazards including, but not limited to cuts from knives, slipping, tripping, falls and burns; frequent exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity, extreme cold; frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood and produce items and frequent washing of hands.
