Tempest is Charleston's destination for hyper-local, sustainable Coastal Modern-American cuisine. Located in the former historic Harriott Pinckney Home for Sailors on Market Street, our seasonal menu goes beyond the sea — featuring chilled and charcoal-roasted selections, creative pastas, locally sourced proteins, and fresh produce alongside our raw bar program. Guests dine beneath a stunning 700-square-foot custom art piece by local artist Honey McCrary, with handcrafted cocktails and a carefully curated wine list rounding out the experience. We are ideally seeking a part-time server, though we welcome applications from candidates interested in full-time opportunities. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, bring a meticulous eye for detail, and understand that hospitality is about creating genuine connections — not just delivering plates. At Tempest, your goal is to craft an elevated yet personal dining experience that keeps guests returning and inspires new ones to find us. Key holding or management experience is a plus.COMPENSATION
Training shifts: $10/hr After training: $3.13/hr + tips (industry-competitive earning potential in a high-volume fine dining environment)RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome and seat guests warmly, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience
- Take food and beverage orders accurately using our Toast POS system
- Deliver food and drinks with precision, pace, and full adherence to food safety standards
- Maintain an expert-level knowledge of our menu, ingredients, and beverage program
- Anticipate guest needs and resolve any concerns promptly and professionally
- Collaborate closely with kitchen and bar teams to ensure seamless, timely service
- Support dining room cleanliness and assist with side work and opening/closing duties
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in a full-service or fine dining environment strongly preferred
- Genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
- Comfortable and proficient with Toast POS (or similar systems)
- Strong knowledge of food, wine, and cocktails; raw bar and seafood knowledge is a plus
- Ability to manage time and prioritize in a high-volume, fast-paced setting
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math skills for accurate cash and payment handling
- Key holding or floor management experience is a plus
AVAILABILITY
We are ideally seeking a part-time server, though we welcome applications from candidates interested in full-time opportunities. Consistent availability is required, including weekends and holidays. Tempest operates dinner service Sunday through Saturday with hours through 10:00 PM (10:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays).
