Job Description
SUMMARY As a Server at Powder Cache Restaurant, you create an elevated dining experience that pairs warm Western hospitality with polished casual fine-dining service. You will guide guests through thoughtfully paced, multi-course meals using strong culinary and wine knowledge, attentive service, and confident recommendations. Success in this role requires attention to detail, professional tableside presence, and the ability to balance refinement with the welcoming character of Grand Targhee Resort. A key part of every employee's role is serving as a Targhee ambassador by engaging guests at every opportunity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
including the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Dining Experience & Service Excellence a. Provide knowledgeable, attentive, and polished table service consistent with Powder Cache's casual fine-dining standards. b. Guide guests through the menu by clearly describing ingredients, preparation techniques, daily specials, and available dietary accommodations. c. Anticipate guest needs while maintaining appropriate pacing throughout multi-course meals. d. Maintain precise table settings and execute coursing, clearing, resetting, and side-work responsibilities with attention to detail. 2. Wine & Beverage Service a. Maintain strong knowledge of the restaurant's wine list, including varietals, regions, flavor profiles, and food-pairing fundamentals. b. Perform professional tableside wine service, including opening, decanting, presenting, and pouring bottles. c. Make thoughtful wine and beverage recommendations that complement guest selections. d. Confidently recommend craft cocktails, spirits, dessert wines, and other beverage offerings when appropriate. 3. Restaurant Operations & Compliance a. Accurately enter orders and process guest checks through the POS system. b. Handle cash, room charges, tips, and other payment transactions accurately. c. Follow Wyoming alcohol-service requirements, including verifying guest age and preventing over-service. d. Communicate effectively with culinary employees, fellow servers, and restaurant leadership to coordinate pacing and maintain a seamless guest experience. e. Follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
1. Protect the safety of yourself, coworkers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests. 2. Report potentially harmful equipment or unsafe conditions to your immediate supervisor without delay. 3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents to your immediate supervisor promptly. 4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures outlined in the Resort's Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and applicable department procedures or manuals. 5. Operate equipment safely and in a manner that does not create a risk of injury to yourself or others. 6. Drive in accordance with applicable law and Grand Targhee Resort policies when driving is required for the position. 7. Follow applicable HACCP plans and departmental SOPs reviewed during onboarding and throughout the season.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.WORK SCHEDULE
Grand Targhee Resort operates seven days a week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work schedules and hours vary based on business levels, and hours are not guaranteed. Employees must be able to work a flexible schedule during peak resort periods. Due to high operational demand during the winter season, personal time-off and shift-off requests for the winter operating period must be submitted and approved prior to the start of the ski season. EDUCATION and/orEXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three years of serving experience in an upscale or fine-dining establishment required.
- Proven wine knowledge and experience providing tableside wine service required.

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create a polished yet approachable guest experience.
- Ability to maintain composure, attention to detail, and service standards during peak dinner periods.
- Ability to pace multi-course meals while responding to guest preferences and dietary restrictions.
- Ability to communicate confidently about menu preparations, ingredients, wines, and beverage pairings.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate guest checks, split bills accurately, process payments, and manage daily cash drops and tips.LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and understand menu specifications, wine descriptions, guest orders, and restaurant procedures. Ability to clearly and confidently describe culinary offerings, ingredients, preparations, and wine pairings to guests. Strong verbal communication and presentation skills are essential.REASONING ABILITY
Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions while adjusting to changing service needs. Must be able to manage meal pacing, guest preferences, dietary restrictions, and service challenges under time constraints while maintaining Powder Cache's service standards.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position primarily works in a busy indoor restaurant environment. Noise levels are generally moderate but may become elevated during peak dinner periods. The role requires sustained attention to guests, service timing, table presentation, and coordination with the culinary and service teams.
