Albuquerque, NM Job Details Full-time $26,000 - $32,000 a year 18 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications Appeals Customer communication Team supervision Interviewing Disability determination Individual consumer customer service Full Job Description Overview Join our dynamic team as the Department Service Officer (DSO) / Claims Consultant providing professional assistance, advocacy, and representation to veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and their eligible dependents in obtaining federal, state, and local veterans' benefits. Serve as the office team-lead overseeing the Claims Consultant, helping develop, prepare, and prosecute VA disability compensation, pension, survivor, education, healthcare, and ancillary benefit claims while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, VA policies, and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) standards. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about delivering top-tier customer service, this role is perfect for you! Veteran Advocacy Interview veterans and dependents to identify potential benefits and eligibility. Explain VA claims processes and available appeal options. Serve as an advocate throughout the claims and appeals process. Maintain regular communication with claimants regarding claim status and required evidence.
Claims Development Prepare and submit:
Initial disability compensation claims Supplemental Claims Higher-Level Reviews Board Appeals Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) claims Pension claims Burial benefits Special Monthly Compensation (SMC) claims Ancillary benefit applications Review VA rating decisions for legal and factual accuracy. Identify inferred issues and potential secondary service-connected disabilities. Develop effective dates and continuous pursuit arguments when applicable.
