HR & Payroll Administrator About Us Bon Secour Fisheries is a 132-year-old, fourth generation, family owned and operated company, committed to processing, purchasing, and distributing the highest quality seafood items, while providing unparalleled customer service. Role Overview The HR & Payroll Administrator serves as a key member of the Finance and Administration team, responsible for managing all aspects of human resources administration and payroll processing. This dual-function role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting the company's human resources needs including employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance with employment regulations. Reporting to the CFO, this position plays a vital role in maintaining employee satisfaction and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Process weekly payroll for all company employees accurately and on schedule Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions Maintain payroll records and ensure proper documentation Process payroll tax deposits and quarterly tax filings Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies Manage time and attendance system and approve timesheets Process garnishments, child support orders, and other payroll deductions Maintain employee personnel files and HR information systems Process new hire paperwork including I-9 verification and background checks Coordinate employee onboarding and orientation processes Administer employee benefits enrollment and changes Process employee status changes, transfers, and terminations Maintain organizational charts and employee directory Coordinate performance review processes and maintain documentation Serve as primary contact for employee benefits questions and issues Coordinate with benefits vendors and insurance carriers Ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, and other employment regulations Maintain workers' compensation records and coordinate claims Prepare and file required HR reports (EEO, OSHA, etc.) Assist with unemployment claims and employment verification requests Serve as first point of contact for employee HR questions Assist with employee handbook updates and policy communications Support disciplinary processes and maintain confidential records Coordinate employee recognition programs and company events Assist with recruitment efforts and maintain applicant tracking Support workplace safety and training initiatives Assist with special projects and regular reporting & analysis, as assigned Support the CFO and accounting team members as needed Recommend process improvements for accounts receivable workflow Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems Cross-train with other accounting team members Qualifications Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; High school diploma with relevant experience acceptable Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations Experience with payroll systems and/or HRIS systems Experience with Paycom is a plus Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational and time management skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Ability to maintain confidentiality of information Strong communication and interpersonal skills Problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking Ability to work independently and collaboratively Team-oriented mindset with ability to work collaboratively across departments Other Reports to: CFO Primary work location is in the company headquarters Standard working hours with occasional flexibility around periodic payroll period endings Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience Comprehensive health benefits 401(k) Professional development opportunities Paid time-off and company holidays
