ESOP (10- 15% annual company contribution), 401(k), Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Paid Holidays Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on HR Generalist with strong experience in Benefits Administration, Employee Relations, and Construction HR .
FMLA, CFRA, ADA
accommodations, Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL), and related leave programs. Coordinate leave documentation, employee communication, and return-to-work processes. Manage workers' compensation claims and modified duty programs. Partner with insurance carriers, employees, and operational leaders to ensure timely claim resolution. Coordinate return-to-work programs for construction and field-based employees. Recruiting, Onboarding & Retention Manage full-cycle recruiting from intake meetings through onboarding. Create job postings, source candidates, coordinate interviews, and prepare offers. Conduct engaging new hire orientations and onboarding sessions. Ensure all employment documentation is completed accurately and compliantly. Support workforce planning and staffing initiatives across field and corporate teams. HR Operations & Compliance Maintain HRIS records and personnel files. Support payroll administration, timekeeping reviews, and employee updates. Prepare reports, audits, and compliance documentation. Ensure adherence to California labor laws and company policies. Participate in HR process improvement initiatives and organizational development efforts. Qualifications 5+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience required Strong experience in Benefits Administration and Employee Relations Experience supporting a construction, civil construction, paving, heavy equipment, engineering, contracting, manufacturing, logistics, transportation, or field-service workforce highly preferred Experience conducting workplace investigations Hands-on experience with FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL, and Workers' Compensation administration Experience with corrective actions, performance management, and terminations Full-cycle recruiting and onboarding experience Working knowledge of California labor laws and HR compliance requirements Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite Bachelor's degree preferred Bilingual English/Spanish preferred All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
