Description We are looking for a Human Resources Administrator to support a wide range of HR operations in Merced, California. This Long-term Contract position will focus on employee relations, onboarding coordination, compliance support, and accurate administration of personnel records across the organization. The person in this role will work closely with leaders, employees, union representatives, recruiters, and payroll partners to help maintain consistent HR practices and timely follow-through on sensitive matters.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day HR administrative activities, including maintaining organized employee files and ensuring personnel records remain accurate, current, and audit-ready.
- Guide onboarding activities from offer stage through start date by coordinating interviews, preparing employment documentation, scheduling pre-employment screenings, and supporting new employee readiness.
- Partner with department managers to track performance review completion, verify supporting documentation, and confirm alignment with company standards and applicable employment regulations.
- Provide HR support on employee relations matters involving both non-union and union team members, using the appropriate communication approach and process for each employee group.
- Assist with sensitive workforce issues such as workers' compensation cases, corrective action documentation, and separation processes while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Coordinate with recruiting teams to post vacancies, manage staffing-related logistics, and support timely movement of candidates through the selection process.
- Work alongside payroll and benefits contacts to submit and track updates related to compensation changes, benefits administration, and other employee status adjustments.
- Help reinforce compliance with HR policies, labor requirements, and internal procedures through accurate documentation, follow-up, and routine record review. Requirements
- Previous experience in human resources administration with responsibility for employee records, onboarding, compliance, and HR process coordination.
- Working knowledge of employee relations practices, including experience supporting both union and non-union employee populations.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive situations involving disciplinary matters, terminations, and workers' compensation with sound judgment.
- Familiarity with HR, payroll, or applicant tracking platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, Yardi, or similar systems.
- Experience conducting or coordinating background checks, employment documentation, and benefits-related administrative updates.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and confidence preparing, tracking, and auditing HR-related documents.
- Solid understanding of HR compliance requirements and documentation standards related to company policy and employment laws.
