HR Generalist & Office Administrator Pay:
$45,000 - $60,000 per year
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00

In Person Position Summary We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist & Office Administrator to take a hands-on role supporting employees, management, and the day-to-day administrative needs of an established manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have practical HR experience and be comfortable handling employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, personnel records, payroll coordination, and general HR compliance. This is a broad, hands-on position within a smaller company environment, so the individual will also assist with selected accounting functions, purchasing, and general office administration. We are looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of responsibilities, and is comfortable being the go-to person for employees and management on everyday HR and administrative matters. The current employee is retiring, allowing for a transition and training period. Key Responsibilities Human Resources Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding HR-related questions, policies, benefits, attendance, and workplace concerns. Handle day-to-day employee relations, helping management address employee concerns, workplace issues, attendance matters, and policy questions. Coordinate the new-hire onboarding process, including I-9s, W-4s, benefits information, personnel documentation, and orientation. Administer employee health insurance, 401(k), and other benefit programs, including enrollments and employee changes. Maintain and assist with updates to the employee handbook, policies, and procedures. Track employee attendance, PTO, and other employment-related records. Assist with employee offboarding and related documentation. Payroll & Accounting Support Coordinate and process employee payroll, including review of timekeeping, attendance, PTO, and payroll-related changes. Enter and code vendor invoices and assist with accounts payable activities. Communicate with vendors regarding routine billing and payment questions. Maintain accurate information within the company's ERP system, Global Shop Solutions. Assist the Corporate Controller with bookkeeping, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end activities as needed. Assist with routine company filings and administrative financial reports. Purchasing & Office Administration Coordinate purchasing of shop, facility, and office supplies. Order PPE, housekeeping and janitorial products, office supplies, and other operational necessities. Maintain relationships with vendors and monitor routine supply needs. Assist with phones, visitors, incoming/outgoing mail, and general office coordination. Provide administrative support to company leadership as needed. Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on Human Resources experience, preferably in an HR Generalist, HR Administrator, or similar role. Demonstrated experience with employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, personnel records, and HR policies. Experience coordinating or processing payroll strongly preferred. Basic understanding of accounting functions, including accounts payable, invoice processing, and general bookkeeping. Experience with purchasing or vendor coordination is a plus. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with an ERP, HRIS, payroll, or accounting system preferred. Ability to handle confidential employee and company information with discretion and sound judgment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both employees and management. Manufacturing or small-company HR experience is highly desirable. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered. What We're Looking For The strongest candidate will be an HR professional first — someone who understands employees, benefits, onboarding, policies, compliance, and employee relations — but who is also comfortable rolling up their sleeves to handle payroll, basic accounting support, purchasing, and general office responsibilities.
