Ambient Recruiting is partnering with a premier Northern Michigan hospitality property in Petoskey to hire a dependable and professional Hotel Safety Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment for guests, visitors, and team members. In this role, you'll monitor hotel grounds and areas, respond to emergencies and disturbances, identify potential safety hazards, assist guests and team members, and perform protective and enforcement functions in a courteous and professional manner. This position also includes Screener responsibilities, including daily health screenings for employees and visitors entering the workplace. What You'll Be Doing As a Hotel Safety Officer, you'll: Patrol hotel grounds by foot and vehicle to ensure areas remain secure Patrol the interior and perimeter of the hotel Observe and identify potential safety and security risks Monitor for unauthorized persons, disturbances, and undesirable conditions Evaluate situations and make logical decisions regarding appropriate action Answer security telephone calls and respond in a timely manner Respond to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, security concerns, and guest complaints Respond to altercations and conduct appropriate investigations Check identification of visitors and employees when necessary Provide access to secured areas for authorized personnel Check the property for safety hazards and report concerns Assist with CPR and First Aid emergencies Provide escorts for individuals carrying money or when otherwise requested Use proper radio etiquette and communication procedures Maintain and review daily activity logs Complete clear and concise incident and accident reports Conduct investigations involving property loss, guest or employee accidents and illnesses, and crimes involving the property Maintain confidentiality regarding guest and employee incidents Maintain knowledge of hotel and guest room locking systems Perform other safety and security duties as assigned What We're Looking For Successful candidates will have: Minimum age of 21 High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license Excellent customer service skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful situations Good judgment and decision-making skills Ability to observe surroundings and identify potential safety concerns Strong attention to detail Ability to handle confidential information appropriately Ability to work independently and as part of a team Professional and courteous demeanor Ability to work varying days and shifts Availability to work weekends and holidays Preferred Qualifications Prior security experience Law enforcement experience EMS experience Military experience Previous hotel security experience Experience responding to emergency situations Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification Prior law enforcement, EMS, security, or military experience is preferred but not required. Candidates must currently possess or have the ability to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
