We proudly serve the citizens of James City County, the City of Poquoson, the City of Williamsburg, and York County. We are currently seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join our team. This position provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources Department. Responsibilities include answering and directing incoming calls, maintaining personnel records, conducting file audits, assisting with recruitment and onboarding activities, and supporting various HR functions. Job Duties Job Responsibilities Answer and route incoming calls received within the Human Resources Department. Maintain, organize, and file personnel records and HR documentation. Conduct periodic audits of HR files to ensure required documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained. Assist with recruitment activities, including scheduling interviews and communicating with applicants. Support the onboarding process, including preparing new hire paperwork and assisting with employee orientation. Assist with the administration of Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests, workers' compensation claims, and related employee leave programs. Support employee separation and exit processes. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information. Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule Monday-Friday:
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Qualifications (EEO) Skills and Qualifications Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to listen effectively. Detail oriented. Ability to move between multiple projects or activities and remain focused. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management. Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion in Human Resources issues. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. At least one year of previous administrative or human resources experience required. Microsoft office software experience required. Prior experience working in an HRIS system preferred . Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record required .
