This position requires strong administrative and analytical skills with attention to detail to provide support for a variety of human resources functions. Applications must be submitted by 4:00pm on Monday, April 13 th , 2026 in order to be considered for first review. Major Responsibilities Coordinate the collection, filing, and destruction of HR paperwork. Assist with recruitment efforts; job postings, interviews, background checks, references, and job fairs. Assemble new employee onboarding packets, process new hire paperwork, and assist with orientations. Create and maintain personnel files. Maintain human resources databases and computer programs from input to generating reports. Gather information and compile reports. Record benefit changes and generate notices. Record payroll changes. Track employee injuries, leaves, and other events. Promote and assist with employee programs such as wellness, education, and employee assistance program. Process mail and invoices. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related degree required. Office experience organizing/coordinating multiple, concurrent activities required. Human Resources or payroll experience preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered in meeting the requirements for this position. Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred.Knowledge/Skills:
Deliver excellent internal and external customer service. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Present in a professional manner and with excellent interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain working relationships with others. Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines and changing priorities. Prioritize tasks with minimal supervision and use good judgment. Be a self-starter and able to work independently and with a team. Work as a contributing, collaborative member of a team. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Read, write, speak and understand English. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Use spreadsheets, word processing, and database computer software programs. Accurate data entry skills; detect and correct errors. Organize information into a coherent and meaningful format with attention to detail. Knowledge of payroll, garnishments, withholdings, and benefit distribution. Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and laws affecting human resources. Knowledge of relationship between human resources and payroll functions. Able to quickly learn and retain concepts that may be unfamiliar. Be of good moral character and able to adhere to professional ethical standards of conduct as a public employee working in the public administration and operation of airports.Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to lift, carry, push and pull objects up to 30 pounds. Job functions require sitting for extended periods with intermittent walking and standing; occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, carrying, and reaching. Extensive wrist and hand movements required for frequent keyboarding and use of office equipment. Ability to perform close work to file, read and use computer required. Ability to continuously exchange information through listening and talking with customers, coworkers, representatives of community organizations and other individuals required. Ability to be mobile community wide for appropriate business needs required. Work is primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to other work areas with limited exposure to airborne particles and aircraft noise. Occasional local travel and some work outside of scheduled office hours.EQUIPMENT OPERATION REQUIRED
Computer, telephone, fax, copier, automobile. Spokane Airport provides a generous benefit package. Currently, we cover employee at 100% and dependents at 90% of the premium cost. We offer four plan choices for medical coverage (includes vision) through Kaiser Permanente. The Airport contributes to a Health Savings Account (HSA) for high deductible plans and a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) for the other plans. Dental coverage is through MetLife. Additionally, the Airport provides life insurance at two times the annual salary. Optional life insurance is also available. Short term and long term disability is also provided by the Airport. Retirement is through the Washington State Department of Retirement System - PERS Plan. The Airport provides an employee assistance program through BHO, and an employee wellness program. Parking is provided. The Airport recognizes 11 holidays. Vacation is earned at eight (8) hours a month for the first five (5) years and increases every five (5) years.
