(ABFM) is the third largest medical specialty board in the United States. Founded in 1969, it is a voluntary, not-for-profit, private organization whose purposes include: (1) Improving the quality of medical care available to the public; (2) Establishing and maintaining standards of excellence in the specialty of Family Medicine; (3) Improving the standards of medical education for training in Family Medicine and (4) Determining by evaluation the fitness of specialists in Family Medicine who apply for and hold certificates. The mission of the ABFM is to promote excellence in medical care through educational and scientific initiatives. Through certification and maintenance of certification programs the ABFM pursues its mission by establishing, maintaining, and measuring high standards of excellence in the specialty of Family Medicine. Position Summary The ABFM Human Resources Manager is responsible for organizing and managing defined core Human Resource functions, such as talent acquisition, staff engagement, performance management, compensation and benefits, compliance, and organizational staff development. This role works closely with leadership to align human resources strategies with organizational goals and promote a positive, high-performing workplace culture for ABFM. Key Responsibilities Primary Duties Payroll & Compensation Administration Oversee payroll processing, tax filings, and compliance Ensure accurate compensation structures and salary administration Manage benefit deductions and employer contributions Conduct compensation analysis and workforce cost modeling Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws Human Resources Leadership Organize employee standards and procedures, using existing human resource systems Oversee recruitment, hiring processes, onboarding and offboarding staff Maintain personnel manual and human resource policies Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulatory requirements Manage staff benefits administration and vendor relationships Oversee performance management processes Support supervisors with staff relations matters Maintain personnel records and confidential documentation Coordinate training and professional development initiatives Risk Management & Compliance Maintain appropriate internal controls in payroll and HR functions Oversee workers' compensation, annual workers' compensation audit and unemployment claims Monitor employment compliance and reporting requirements Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred Experience 5-10 years of human resource experience 5-10 years of human resource experience SHRM Certification preferred Technical Skills HRIS systems and payroll software Microsoft Office Suite Applicant Tracking Systems Core Competencies Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills High integrity and confidentiality Attention to detail and organization Ability to partner with leadership Compensation Salary commensurate with experience.
