(SFI) is an established Shreveport, Louisiana manufacturer of carbon steel buttweld pipe fittings, serving the energy industry for 80 years. Our tees, elbows, reducers, caps, and saddles are made in the USA and used in pipeline and energy infrastructure across the country. We are a stable, growing, family-owned company that is actively investing in new equipment, our facility, and our people. Position Summary The Human Resources Manager owns the HR function for our single-site manufacturing operation of approximately 100 employees. This is a hands-on, department-of-one role reporting directly to executive leadership, with full ownership of recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and compensation programs. The right candidate is comfortable on a plant floor, builds trust with supervisors and production employees alike, and can run the day-to-day HR function while steadily improving our systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities Full-cycle recruiting:
Post positions, screen all candidates, coordinate and participate in interviews with operations, extend offers, and manage the pipeline from application through start date.
Staffing agencies:
Manage staffing agency relationships and temp-to-hire conversions, and hold agencies to clear quality and retention standards.
Candidate records:
Maintain the applicant tracking system with complete candidate records, interview notes, and disposition history.
Referral program:
Administer and promote the employee referral program. Onboarding and Offboarding New hire onboarding: Run a structured onboarding program, including new hire paperwork, I-9 verification, benefits enrollment, and orientation.
Exit process:
Conduct exit interviews consistently and report themes and retention insights to leadership. Employee Relations and Retention Floor presence: Be visible and accessible to production employees on the shop floor, not just an office presence.
Supervisor support:
Coach supervisors on employee issues, performance conversations, discipline, and documentation.
Investigations:
Conduct and document workplace investigations fairly and thoroughly.
Engagement:
Run recognition, attendance incentive, and employee communication programs. Benefits, Payroll, and HRIS Benefits administration: Administer medical, dental, vision, life, and 401(k) benefits, including open enrollment and day-to-day employee support. Workers' compensation: Manage workers' compensation claims from first report of injury through resolution and return to work.
Payroll and HRIS:
Administer payroll and HRIS systems, and lead system implementation and improvement projects.
Compliance and Recordkeeping Employment law:
Maintain compliance with federal and Louisiana employment law, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and I-9 requirements.
Records:
Maintain personnel files, labor law postings, and required government reporting.
Policy:
Own and maintain the employee handbook and HR policies, and support OSHA recordkeeping in coordination with the Safety Manager.
Compensation and Development Market benchmarking:
Benchmark wages against the local market and advise leadership on competitive pay ranges.
Pay progression:
Administer the company's structured, competency-based pay and progression program for shop floor employees.
Training:
Coordinate supervisor and employee training and development programs. Required Qualifications Five or more years of progressive HR experience, including hands-on ownership of recruiting, benefits, and employee relations. Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar hourly-workforce environment. Working knowledge of federal and Louisiana employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, I-9). Experience managing workers' compensation claims. Experience administering HRIS and payroll systems. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Clear, direct communication that earns credibility with production employees and management alike. Preferred Qualifications SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification. Experience owning the full HR function solo or on a small team at a single site. Experience in steel, forging, metals, or other heavy manufacturing. Experience implementing or migrating an HRIS or time and attendance system. Experience building or administering structured pay progression or skills-based pay programs.
