Human Resources Manager Location:
Baltimore, MD Area Position Type:
Full-Time, In-Person Salary:
Starting at $70,000 annually, based on experience About the Position We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Human Resources Manager to oversee the full spectrum of HR operations for a growing food distribution, grocery, sales, merchandising, and warehouse organization. This is a hands-on HR leadership position for someone who is ready to take ownership of the HR function, work directly with senior leadership and managers, and help improve HR processes as the company continues to grow. Key Responsibilities Manage the full HR lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and offboarding. Administer payroll using ADP Workforce Now , including employee changes, timekeeping, PTO, deductions, and payroll reporting. Manage annual open enrollment and benefits administration , including employee enrollment, qualifying life events, benefits changes, and coordination with insurance providers. Partner with managers and senior leadership on employee relations, performance issues, disciplinary actions, investigations, and workplace concerns. Manage union and labor relations , including working with union representatives, interpreting and administering collective bargaining agreements, handling grievances, and supporting disciplinary matters. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and multi-state payroll requirements. Administer and maintain knowledge of FMLA, Maryland FAMLI, STD, LTD, ADA, workers' compensation, unemployment, and other leave programs . Manage workers' compensation claims and coordinate with employees, managers, and insurance providers. Maintain accurate and confidential personnel and HR records. Manage I-9/E-Verify requirements and other employment documentation. Partner with Operations, Sales, Accounting, Warehouse, Merchandising, and Management to identify HR needs and improve employee performance and retention. Develop and improve HR policies, procedures, and processes to support continued company growth. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Previous experience working directly with union employees and union representatives. Experience managing or supporting annual benefits open enrollment. Hands-on experience managing a broad range of HR functions. Experience with ADP Workforce Now and payroll administration . Strong employee relations and performance management experience. Working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws and payroll requirements. Knowledge of FMLA, workers' compensation, disability programs, and employee leave administration. Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and take ownership of HR responsibilities. Preferred Bilingual English/Spanish. Multi-state HR/payroll experience. Experience with Maryland FAMLI, STD, LTD, and workers' compensation. Experience working in food distribution, grocery, warehouse, retail, merchandising, or a similar operational environment. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working directly with senior leadership and managers, handling difficult employee situations, working with a union, managing payroll and benefits, leading open enrollment, ensuring compliance, and identifying opportunities to improve the organization. The successful candidate should be able to hit the ground running and independently manage the day-to-day HR operation. This is an in-person position based in the Baltimore, Maryland area.
