This role ensures hiring, compliance, training, performance management, and employee engagement systems operate effectively and consistently. The HR Manager partners closely with ownership and department leaders to support recruiting, enforce policies, administer benefits, manage employee relations, and maintain compliance with federal and Michigan employment laws. This is a hands-on leadership role designed to support a growing, service-based organization. Key Responsibilities 1. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Lead recruiting efforts for mitigation, reconstruction, administrative, and sales roles. Manage job postings, applicant screening, interviewing coordination, and offer processes. Oversee onboarding in BambooHR to ensure new hires are properly trained, equipped, and aligned with expectations. Track cost-per-hire metrics and hiring timelines. Maintain relationships with trade schools, job boards, and referral sources. 2. Policy Management & Compliance Review, enforce, and update the employee handbook and HR policies. Ensure consistent application of company policies across all locations. Maintain compliance with federal and Michigan labor laws (FMLA, OSHA, EEOC, I-9, E-Verify, ESTA, etc.). Maintain secure and accurate personnel files and documentation. Partner with leadership on disciplinary processes and documentation standards. 3. Performance Management & Employee Relations Oversee performance review systems (30-60-90 Day Reviews, Annual Reviews, Growth Plans). Provide coaching and guidance to supervisors on accountability and documentation. Investigate employee concerns professionally and confidentially. Support leadership in creating clear expectations and consistent standards. 4. Benefits Administration Administer medical insurance, retirement plans, PTO policies, and related benefits. Coordinate annual renewals and open enrollment. Manage employee benefit communications and questions. Work closely with payroll (TraxPayroll) and BambooHR to ensure accurate deductions and reporting. 5. Training & Certification Management Track and manage required certifications (IICRC, OSHA 10, Servpro University, safety training). Coordinate training schedules and compliance deadlines. Support development plans for leadership and technical growth. 6. Culture & Engagement Initiatives Coordinate monthly employee breakfast meetings. Plan and execute quarterly team-building events. Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with Servpro's core values. Support employee recognition initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. At least 5 years of HR experience, preferably in construction, restoration, or service-based industries. Strong understanding of employment law and compliance requirements. Experience with HRIS systems (BambooHR preferred) and payroll coordination. Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.
