Job Description

Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Director - Human Resources for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. The Director of Human Resources provides administrative leadership and support for the management of all matters related to faculty and staff for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station which combined have nearly 1,000 full time employees. This position reports to the Sr. Associate Dean of Finance and Administration and is the primary liaison with the University Office of Human Resources and other offices of university administration (eg:
OULR , OGC
) to assure compliance with university policies and procedures. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Provides strategic oversight and direction for the Office of Human Resources while serving as a key partner to executive leadership in advancing organizational priorities, goals and initiatives. Oversees, analyzes and reports on human resources activities to provide timely and accessible information to the school and experiment station leadership. Acts as a key contributor to goal setting, strategic planning and process/problem resolution for the School and Station.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Masters degree, preferably in higher education or public administration or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and a minimum of five years of experience in a leadership or managerial role that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of strategic management, leadership skills, team building and best practices research.
