We are looking for an experienced and hands-on HR Director to lead our Human Resources function as our company continues to grow. This position will support approximately 50-100 employees across our Nevada, California, and Florida operations and will work closely with company leadership and department managers. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys being both a strategic partner and a hands-on problem solver. You will have the opportunity to build and improve HR processes, support managers, guide employee relations, ensure compliance, and help shape the employee experience. The HR Director may also oversee an HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, or similar HR support position as the department grows. The Role The HR Director will be responsible for the overall management of the company's Human Resources function. This position will provide guidance to leadership and managers, oversee employee relations and compliance, manage HR policies and processes, support recruiting and onboarding, and ensure the company maintains effective and legally compliant HR practices. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, approachable, highly organized, and comfortable working independently in a growing company where the HR function requires both leadership and hands-on involvement. Key Responsibilities HR Leadership Lead and oversee the company's Human Resources function. Serve as the primary HR partner to company leadership and department managers. Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs that support company growth. Establish consistent HR practices across departments and locations. Evaluate HR processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Manage and prioritize the HR department's day-to-day operations. Supervise and provide direction to HR support staff as the department grows. Employee Relations Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers regarding workplace concerns, policies, and HR matters. Handle employee relations matters, including attendance, performance, conduct, workplace conflicts, and disciplinary actions. Conduct and/or oversee workplace investigations. Coach managers through difficult employee situations and performance issues. Ensure disciplinary actions and employment decisions are handled consistently and appropriately. Assist leadership with employee separations, including documentation and exit processes. Maintain appropriate confidentiality when handling sensitive employee matters. Employment Law & Compliance Ensure company HR practices comply with applicable federal, Nevada, California, Florida, and local employment laws. Maintain working knowledge of wage and hour requirements, paid sick leave, meal and rest periods, leaves of absence, employee classification, final pay requirements, workplace accommodations, and other applicable employment requirements. Monitor changes in employment laws and recommend policy or process updates. Maintain required employment records and documentation. Review and maintain the Employee Handbook and HR policies. Partner with outside employment counsel when appropriate. Assist with unemployment claims, agency inquiries, audits, and other employment-related matters. California, Nevada & Florida HR Support Oversee HR practices for employees working in Nevada, California & Florida. Ensure policies and practices appropriately account for differences between Nevada, California & Florida employment requirements. Partner with managers to ensure compliance with applicable state and local requirements. Stay informed regarding changes to California, Nevada, and Florida employment laws that may impact company operations. Recruiting & Hiring Partner with managers to identify staffing needs and develop hiring plans. Oversee recruiting and hiring processes. Develop and maintain job descriptions and job postings. Ensure hiring practices are consistent and compliant. Develop interview processes and support managers with candidate selection. Oversee onboarding and new-hire processes. Help develop strategies to attract and retain qualified employees. Performance Management Develop and maintain effective performance management processes. Coach managers on performance expectations, documentation, feedback, and corrective action. Oversee performance reviews and employee development processes. Help managers address performance concerns proactively. Ensure performance management practices are applied consistently. Payroll, Benefits & Leave Administration Partner with payroll and benefits providers to support accurate and timely administration. Review HR-related payroll matters, including employee classifications, pay changes, timekeeping concerns, and deductions. Assist employees with benefits questions and coordinate with benefits providers. Oversee employee leave administration and documentation. Coordinate applicable federal and state leave requirements. Manage employee accommodation requests and interactive processes as appropriate. Maintain confidential leave and accommodation records. HR Systems & Records Maintain accurate and confidential employee records. Oversee HRIS and employee data. Ensure personnel files and required documentation are maintained appropriately. Develop HR reports and metrics for leadership. Maintain organizational charts, job descriptions, policies, and other HR documentation. Identify opportunities to improve HR technology and automate administrative processes. Employee Engagement & Culture Help build and maintain a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture. Develop employee engagement and recognition initiatives. Support manager and leadership development. Help identify opportunities to improve employee retention and satisfaction. Partner with leadership to ensure company culture and HR practices align with organizational goals. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience. Previous HR leadership, management, or HR department ownership experience. Strong knowledge of federal employment laws. Working knowledge of Nevada and California employment laws and regulations strongly preferred. Experience handling employee relations matters and workplace investigations. Experience coaching managers on performance and employee relations. Strong understanding of wage and hour compliance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of HR initiatives. Experience with HRIS, payroll systems, benefits administration, and common workplace technology.
