Our commitment to nurturing young minds in a safe, engaging, and supportive environment has made us a trusted choice for families in our community. Position Summary West Hills Learning Center is seeking a part-time Assistant Director to join our team. This position requires a flexible, onsite schedule, including a combination of morning and afternoon shifts (e.g., two mornings and three afternoons per week). The main role of this position is managing the center's human resources functions, as well as playing a key role in supporting staff development and overall workplace culture. The Assistant Director will help ensure effective operations and compliance while contributing to a positive and professional environment for all staff. Key Responsibilities Manage the full hiring cycle, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, onboarding, and 30/60/90-day check-ins Oversee employee performance management processes, including evaluations, coaching, and ongoing staff development Support and promote positive employee relations and a collaborative work environment Ensure compliance with applicable employment regulations, including FMLA, OFLA, and related policies Assist with HR-related strategic planning and policy development Support affirmative action efforts and initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion Participate in monthly leadership and classroom meetings Communicate concerns and updates to the Director in a timely and professional manner Document meetings and ensure timely follow-up on action items Provide occasional classroom support, including staff break coverage as needed Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred Demonstrated experience in human resources, including hiring, performance management, and employee relations Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism Must meet the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care Child Care Licensing Division's Director qualifications, or have a written plan to meet qualifications within 6 months of hire (Step 9 or higher in the Oregon Registry and/or verifiable experience in managing and supervising adults) How to Apply If you are passionate about supporting educators and contributing to a positive workplace culture, we encourage you to apply and become an integral part of our team at West Hills Learning Center.
