Senior Manager, People Operations We are seeking a seasoned, hands-on Senior Manager, People Operations to serve as the sole HR leader/team member for our growing team of employees and contractors. You will own the full scope of HR operations while building systems, processes, and programs needed to support scale. As a key partner to the leadership team, you will lead recruiting, onboarding, daily HR operations, compensation, performance management, employee relations, benefits, compliance, and culture initiatives. You will work closely with the COO to ensure priorities are executed effectively and aligned with company goals. Given our global, distributed workforce, you must be comfortable navigating complexity across geographies, partnering with external vendors, and delivering a consistent, high-quality team experience. This is a high-ownership, high-accountability role requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution. You will operate independently, drive initiatives forward, and step in wherever needed. Success in the role requires strong judgment, analytical rigor, clear communication, and reliable follow-through. We're looking for a proactive operator who thrives in ambiguity, adapts quickly to shifting priorities, and enjoys building structure from the ground up. Key Responsibilities Own and lead all day-to-day people operations for a distributed workforce of employees and contractors. Lead recruiting operations, process, candidate experience and hiring management enablement across the full hiring lifecycle. Administer and maintain the HRIS platform, including data integrity, workflows, reporting, and process optimization. Manage employee records, HR documentation, organizational changes, and core HR policies. Administer benefits programs, including healthcare, 401(k), and related employee communications. Support compensation planning, including salary reviews, promotions, and market-informed planning. Develop and implement a performance management system, including review cycles, manager enablement, and calibration support. Ensure compliance with California labor laws and broader employment requirements relevant to a global workforce. Partner with the company's EOR provider for APAC employees and help manage international employment processes. Support contractor management practices, documentation, and classification-related processes. Lead employee-relations matters in partnership with the COO and external employment counsel, as appropriate. Advise employees on policy interpretation, performance, and workplace issues. Help develop training and development programs that support manager effectiveness and employee growth. Contribute to culture-building initiatives that strengthen engagement, accountability, and a positive workplace. Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, tools, templates, and workflows as the company scales. Prepare insights and regular reporting for leadership to guide strategic decisions. What Success Looks Like HR operations run smoothly with minimal oversight and strong attention to detail. Employees and managers receive timely, accurate, and trusted support. Core HR processes are documented, scalable, and compliant. Recruiting, onboarding, and performance management are structured and effective. Compensation and benefits programs are administered thoughtfully and consistently. The company has a stronger foundation for growth, with HR systems that can support expansion. Qualifications 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years of independently owning broad HR operations, employee relations, benefits, compliance, performance management, and HRIS administration in a California-based organization. Strong working knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance. Experience supporting startups or fast-paced, evolving environments. Experience managing HR operations for distributed teams, including employees and contractors. Experience administering benefits, compensation processes, and performance management programs. Hands-on experience with an HRIS platform, Rippling experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and follow through with exceptional reliability. Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization. Highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented. Warm, empathetic, and able to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion. Native or fluent English speaker. Able to work in the US without sponsorship. Travel Travel could be up to 25% of your time.

Greater Los Angeles area preferred. California residents preferred. Ability to work from home when not required for onsite work in the Valencia, CA office. Compensation & Benefits Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $145,000 and $165,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Benefits package includes medical, vision, and dental insurance, and 401K matching up to 3.5%. Opportunity to work with an innovative and growing team.
