Job Summary:
Berrett Home Services is seeking an experienced Human Resources Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of the HR function and payroll-related reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and consistency across all HR processes. This role is responsible for payroll validation and reporting oversight, benefits reconciliation, workers' compensation and unemployment claims, HR training administration, and compliance reporting. The HR Supervisor will also supervise the HR Generalist and report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Specific responsibilities include:
Duties/Responsibilities:
Payroll Oversight and Auditing. Payroll processing is supported in part by the Accounting Department. Validate production data before payroll processing. Validate commissions for accuracy before payment. Review and approve manual payroll adjustments. Administer bonus calculations and payments. Reconcile benefit deductions and enrollment records against payroll and carrier billing. Conduct regular PTO audits to ensure the accuracy of accruals and balances. Prepare and distribute the following payroll reports: Month vs. Month Variance report Incentives report New Hires report Terminations report Manual adjustments report Bonus report
Weekly Reporting:
Workers' Compensation claims and status updates. Unemployment claims and hearings. Employee relations investigations. Compliance tracking across HR functions.
Monthly Reporting:
Payroll exceptions. Training completion and compliance. Benefits enrollment and reconciliation status. Assistance with the Accidents, Injuries, and Damage Report Disciplinary actions summary.
Training and Development:
Administer company-wide HR training programs and track completion and compliance.
Leadership and HR Operations:
Supervise, mentor, and support the HR Generalist, providing guidance and reviewing work on day-to-day HR matters. Serve as an escalation point for employee relations matters by leading or overseeing internal investigations and recommending appropriate resolutions. Oversee the administration of workers' compensation and unemployment programs, ensuring timely and accurate claims handling and coordination with the Accounting Department and insurance providers. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain current knowledge of HR best practices and industry trends. Partner with the CFO and leadership on the implementation of HR strategies, systems, and best-practice policies and procedures. Assist in the planning, scheduling, and communication of monthly, quarterly, and annual employee and Company events. Assist with recruiting as needed. Serve as the external point of contact for HR system improvements, implementations, and related initiatives.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Thorough understanding of human resources and payroll principles and practices, including employment laws and regulations. Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly with payroll validation and reporting. Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop direct reports. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple recurring reporting deadlines. Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information. Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field required. Three to five years of progressive HR and/or payroll experience required. Prior experience supervising or leading a team preferred. Experience with Coastal, ADP, or other HRIS. PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar certification. Pay:
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
