Job Description

General Job Summary The Director of Human Resources ensures legally sound and effective human resource management practices for the Town of Westlake. Provides leadership and executes responsibilities in both complex and routine HR functions. This position requires the ability to learn multiple systems to carry out responsibilities in the following for all municipal functions: recruitment, retention, benefits administration, training, performance management, onboarding, risk management and employment law compliance.
Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications Education/Certification:
Bachelor s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
Requirements:
Ability to complete a criminal background check, with acceptable results, as determined by the Town of Westlake. Must be legally able to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
PHR, SHRM-CP, or IPMA-CP or equivalent certification preferred. Five (5) to seven (7) years of senior level Municipal HR experience. Experience with Laserfiche, and/or timekeeping/attendance systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices. Considerable knowledge of state and federal requirements and regulations. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and reading comprehension skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and provide excellent customer service to employees, elected officials, department heads, residents, and the general public. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Ability to prioritize.
