Part-time (at least 20-24 hours during the Monday through Friday work week) with an understanding that there is fluctuation in Human Resources cycles, but we are open to other schedules based on the applicant's circumstances and experience. Applicant will need to be available on-call for unique time-sensitive HR needs. Position is in-person. About Three Stone Hearth Three Stone Hearth was founded in 2006 and is a Berkeley-based worker-owner cooperative that produces, packages and sells a weekly menu of healthy, nutrient-dense, home-style prepared foods for sale online (for pick-up or delivery) and in our Brick & Mortar store. Human Resources (HR) and Administration Duties Overview The Human Resources Generalist energizes this company role and is responsible for running the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) circle. In collaboration with the leads of company circles (i.e. departments) and staff assigned to HR roles, develop, improve, and maintain procedures, protocols, and documentation relating to the company's HR needs, including but not limited to hiring, role descriptions, benefits plans administration, backup payroll processing support, onboarding and exit processes, safety programs, feedback processes, keeping company in compliance vis-a-vis local, state and federal HR policies. This may also include safety and anti-harassment training and professional licensure. Key Responsibilities- Hiring Supports the hiring process for any circle, helps formulate or updates role descriptions, posting the roles, sourcing applicants, coordinating interviews and reference checks, scheduling tryouts, making offers and coordinating wage offers with Finance, advising any workers who participate in the hiring process.
- On- and Off-board Employees Complete on-boarding/new hire orientation and paperwork and off-boarding procedures in a timely manner. Create and maintain new hire and personnel files, ensure accurate maintenance of all employee records and files. Human Resources Generalist
- Coordinate staff reviews Provide support to Lead Links to ensure 6-week reviews and other Company reviews are completed in a timely manner.
- Payroll Understands payroll process and system, and serves as backup Company Payroll Processor.
- Benefits Administration/Contracts Maintain workflows to efficiently administer and manage employee benefits, including: track eligibility for employee benefits, enrolling and onboarding newly eligible employees in a timely manner; ensure that worker's compensation, company insurances, health, life and auto insurance policies are organized, current, and renewed in a timely manner with insurance brokerage; COBRA requirements and other legally-required notifications are properly handled; provide support to workers in understanding benefits.
- Maintain and update company employee handbook Keep up to date on any employment law changes; ensure that company and legal policies and employment labor laws are clearly documented and communicated to staff.
- Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution Support Inform/train on basic conflict resolution skills regarding issues related to sensitive HR conversations; Support Conflict Resolution process with facilitation/meditation as needed; advise on issues related to sensitive HR conversations with staff, and on internal investigations as needed; maintain documents that capture the ER or CR output facts and resolution to the conflict.
- Company Safety role Coordinating with all circles regarding safety; Supporting other safety roles; Auditing safety procedures; Maintain IIPP (Illness and Injury Prevention Program) document and Emergency Action Plan for the Company; Recording and submitting Cal/OSHA workplace safety documentation; Organizes CPR/First Aid training for group representatives; Plans/organizes company emergency drills as needed.
- Covid-19 Keep up to date on Federal, State, Local regulations and county health department case levels; maintain and update company Covid-19 protocol with Covid team role holders; respond to employee reports of illness providing guidance on testing; isolation and return to work timelines, maintain and submit required reports as necessary.

- Performs other duties as needed Required Education, Experience, and Skills
- Two-years of experience as a Human Resource generalist or HR administrator
- Bachelor's degree or 3 years of administrative experience
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality with respect to HR issues
- Excellent attention to detail
- Highly organized; capacity to develop workflows and organize files for recurring/repeating systems
- Strong computer skills, including Google Workspace and email, and the capacity to quickly learn and master new systems
- Strong time management skills; capacity to work on multiple projects in a day, shifting focus and re-prioritizing work as appropriate
- Strong written skills with the ability to effectively document procedures and systems
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication and negotiation skills, emphasizing a direct, articulate, clear and friendly manner in emails and conversations Required Personal Attributes
