Patterns is a center-based, in-home, and school provider of behavioral services to families with children diagnosed with ASD and other developmental disabilities. We are looking for an experienced and resourceful Human Resources Generalist to support a broad range of HR functions throughout the employee lifecycle. This role will assist with employee relations, onboarding and offboarding, leave administration, benefits, compliance, employee records, and general HR questions while helping ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate has well-rounded HR knowledge, strong judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and efficiently. This individual should be comfortable working closely with employees and leaders, handling sensitive information with discretion, and using HR systems to maintain accurate records and support reporting needs. Ultimately, the HR Generalist will help strengthen day-to-day HR operations, provide responsive support to employees and management, and contribute to HR initiatives that support the company's continued growth.
Responsibilities Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., in person at the Garden Grove office Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, leaves, and general workplace questions Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, attendance, performance, and policy interpretation Assist with employee investigations, corrective actions, performance improvement plans, and related documentation Administer employee leaves of absence and workplace accommodations in coordination with employees, managers, benefits providers, and other appropriate parties Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including employment documentation, background checks, new-hire orientation, personnel changes, and separation records Maintain accurate and confidential employee records within HR systems and personnel files Partner with payroll and benefits teams to resolve employee questions and ensure timely processing of employment changes Support supervisors with performance management, coaching, documentation, and consistent application of company policies Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements and assist with required notices, audits, and reporting Prepare and maintain HR reports and trackers related to leaves, turnover, employee relations, staffing, and other workforce activity Assist with recruiting activities as needed, including candidate screening, interview coordination, reference checks, and offer preparation Support employee engagement, training, policy implementation, and other HR initiatives Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, documentation, and employee support Perform additional HR and operational responsibilities as assigned #westadmin Requirements Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred At least 2-3 years of hands-on HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist or similar role Working knowledge of employee relations, performance management, onboarding, offboarding, benefits, leave administration, and employment compliance Experience supporting employees and managers across multiple locations or states is strongly preferred Familiarity with federal and state employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, wage and hour requirements, and applicable leave laws Experience using ADP or a comparable HRIS/payroll system required Experience with Employee Navigator or another benefits administration platform preferred Experience with CentralReach or a similar healthcare or ABA practice-management system is a plus Strong documentation, recordkeeping, and organizational skills with close attention to detail Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with employees and managers Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification is a plus Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or ABA services is preferred Benefits We value the health, well-being, and professional growth of our employees.
