We are seeking a motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented Bilingual HR Specialist to join our team and support our Human Resources operations. Position Summary The Bilingual HR Specialist is a hands-on position responsible for supporting a broad range of Human Resources functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, leaves of absence, HRIS administration, training, compliance, and employee documentation. The position will also work closely with the HR Manager and Safety Specialist to support workers' compensation, employee safety training, injury reporting, investigations, and related safety administration. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded HR professional who is fluent in both English and Spanish and comfortable communicating with employees at all levels of the organization. This individual must be able to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively in both office and operational environments. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to provide responsive support to employees, supervisors, and management in a fast-paced work environment. Human Resources Responsibilities Support the day-to-day administration of Human Resources programs and activities. Maintain accurate employee records and ensure confidentiality of personnel and other sensitive information. Assist with full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and preparation of offer letters and hiring documents. Conduct new hire and rehire onboarding and ensure all required documentation is completed. Maintain and update employee information in the HRIS, including new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, wage adjustments, and other employee changes. Support benefits administration and assist employees with benefit questions, enrollment, and related matters. Serve as a liaison, as appropriate, between employees and benefit providers or insurance carriers. Assist with the administration and tracking of employee leaves of absence. Support unemployment claims, appeals, documentation, and hearing preparation. Assist with employee evaluations, performance management, corrective actions, and performance improvement plans. Receive, review, and document employee concerns and complaints and escalate complex or sensitive matters to the HR Manager. Support employee relations matters, workplace investigations, and disciplinary documentation under the direction of HR leadership. Respond to routine employee and supervisor questions regarding company policies, benefits, procedures, and HR programs. Support required employee training and maintain accurate training and certification records. Prepare and maintain HR reports, metrics, spreadsheets, and other documentation. Assist the HR Manager with employee events, engagement initiatives, policy implementation, and special projects. Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements. Perform other HR-related duties as assigned. Workers' Compensation & Safety Support Responsibilities Work closely with the Safety Specialist to support company safety programs, policies, training, inspections, and compliance initiatives. Assist with new hire safety orientation and employee safety training, including scheduling, communication, attendance tracking, and maintaining required records and certifications. Support the reporting and documentation of workplace injuries, accidents, incidents, and near misses, including gathering employee statements and information needed for investigations. Assist with workers' compensation claims, including injury reporting, claim documentation, employee and claims representative communication, medical follow-up, and return-to-work or modified-duty coordination. Maintain organized and confidential workers' compensation and safety records, including training documentation, work-status reports, corrective actions, and required safety records. Assist the Safety Specialist with workplace inspections, incident investigations, corrective-action follow-up, PPE, SDS documentation, and other safety-related programs. Support fleet safety, emergency preparedness, First Aid response, and other safety initiatives as needed. Promote employee awareness of company safety practices and help foster a positive and proactive safety culture. Perform other safety and workers' compensation duties as assigned by the Safety Specialist or HR Manager. Required Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish, including speaking, reading, and writing, is required. Minimum of three years of Human Resources or related experience. Experience with workers' compensation, workplace safety, employee relations, or a combination of HR and safety responsibilities is strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered. Experience with employee onboarding, training, documentation, and recordkeeping. Experience conducting or supporting workplace investigations and preparing clear written documentation. Experience working with HRIS systems; UKG/Kronos experience preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and management. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with HR, Safety, and operational leadership. High level of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and discretion. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting workers' compensation claims and workplace injury management. First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification. Safety or Occupational Health certification. Experience working in agriculture, nursery operations, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, or another operational environment. Experience with safety inspections, employee safety training, and incident investigations. Experience supporting return-to-work and modified-duty programs. Experience working with workers' compensation carriers, insurance adjusters, and claims management. Experience with fleet safety and vehicle incident documentation. Familiarity with safety metrics, corrective-action tracking, and safety training documentation. Familiarity with captive insurance programs is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to travel throughout nursery facilities and work areas to assist with employee needs, training, investigations, and safety-related activities. Ability to work both in an office environment and in operational/outdoor work areas as needed. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
