Full Job Description Summary:
Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive support across key HR functions including onboarding, training, payroll administration, HR policy administration, HRIS management, benefits, and performance management. This role partners closely with site leadership to support employee engagement, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement across HR processes and programs.
Essential Functions:
Coordinate and conduct new hire orientation sessions and facilitate training as needed. Maintain employee personnel and medical files in compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Respond to associate inquiries related to benefits, pay, and HR policies. Maintain a working knowledge of payroll processes, including associate rewards, work rules, and attendance policies. Process updates and changes within the HRIS system accurately and timely. Support continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating and enhancing HR processes and procedures. Oversee site engagement and communication efforts to promote a positive workplace culture. Partner with site management to provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and programs. Complete special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required, with a college degree in a related field preferred. A minimum of four years of HR experience is required. Experience working in fast-paced environments with the ability to manage varying schedules based on business needs. Strong platform and presentation skills are required. Working knowledge of employment laws including DOL, FLSA, ADA, and EEOC is required. Broad understanding of HR functions including benefits, training and development, recruitment, safety, worker's compensation, and wage administration. Experience with HRIS and payroll systems is required. Ability to prioritize work, maintain confidentiality, and follow established procedures. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively, take direction, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in systems such as PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. Experience working in supply chain, distribution, or warehousing environments is a plus.
Education & Certifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Relevant HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) are a plus but not required. BGDC Distribution is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
