Job Description

A Better Way Services, Inc. (ABW) is seeking a dedicated and organized HR Specialist to join our team and support the day-to-day human resources needs of our growing organization. The HR Specialist will play an important role in supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee records, benefits, payroll-related processes, compliance, and other human resources functions while providing exceptional service to employees. Summary/objective The HR Specialist contributes to the personnel function of A Better Way Services through talent acquisition, performance management, training and development, and new hire onboarding. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Assist in overall talent acquisition and management for A Better Way, including job description development, recruitment, reference checks, onboarding, and evaluation. Manage and maintain employee files in accordance with appropriate laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, updating and maintaining secure and confidential paper and electronic files. Collaborate with HR Director and leadership to develop and deliver employee orientation and onboarding processes. Investigate employee relations and disciplinary processes, in conjunction with Executive Director and HR Director. Serve as both an employee and a management advocate and provide counsel to staff in a confidential setting, as appropriate. Maintain up-to-date expertise and ensure compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other employment laws, regulations, and requirements. Participate in professional development and networking conferences and events as appropriate and/or requested. Work environment Able to stand and/or walk up to 25% of the time. Able to sit up to 50% of the time. Able to view a computer monitor for 6-8 hours per day. Some travel may be required. Able to lift up to 15 pounds frequently. Education and/or Experience A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Nonprofit Management, or the equivalent in relevant experience (4 years) is required. Prior experience in HR or recruiting is preferred. Proven record of strong problem resolution is required. Skills and Competencies Effective verbal and written communication is necessary for the incumbent. Working knowledge of computers and systems is required including and not limited to Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Power Point (or similar product knowledge). High level of confidentiality and professionalism are required. Knowledge of employment and HR-related laws and regulations and the ability to research issues is preferred.
Pay:
$55,000.00 per year
