Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will initiate key HR initiatives, support employee engagement, and ensure compliance with employment laws. Your proactive approach will help cultivate a positive workplace culture while managing essential HR functions that empower our workforce to succeed.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department. May assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Duties/Responsibilities :
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and certifications. Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Implements new hire orientation as needed and employee recognition programs. Reviews and corrects employee timecards, aiding in process of local payroll Supports employee relations through customer service approach and response to employees and vendors Performs other generalist human resource activities as needed to support HR department. Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures, and employment-related laws and regulations. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or at least 3 years of proven work experience in a similar role with HR duties. Hands-on experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) or HCMS. Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish languages preferred.
Preferred Qualitifications:
Five years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with a track record of taking on expanded responsibilities and delivering measurable impact preferred. OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT, and Workman's Compensation experience preferred. HR professional credentialling, such as PHR or SHRM-CP, preferred.
Physical Requirements :
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to access and navigate each department within organization's facility. Lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
Schedule:
