Role Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll & HR Specialist to support payroll administration, employee benefits, onboarding, compliance, and day-to-day human resources operations. This role serves as a key point of contact for employees regarding payroll, benefits, and insurance-related matters while ensuring the accurate administration of employee records, deductions, garnishments, and compliance documentation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer service-focused, and able to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as backup to the Payroll Manager by assisting with payroll processing, payroll inquiries, reporting, and other payroll functions to ensure seamless operations.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, status changes, and terminations.
- Ensure the accuracy of benefit deductions, payroll-related reporting, and employee records.
- Assist employees with benefits and insurance-related inquiries, including enrollment issues, ID card requests, and payroll deduction questions.
- Review and submit insurance invoices for payment and maintain accurate benefits documentation.
- Support the planning, communication, and execution of annual open enrollment activities.
- Enter and maintain garnishments, 401(k) deductions, and other payroll-related adjustments within the payroll system.
- Assist with onboarding activities for new hires in the Metairie office, ensuring a positive employee experience.
- Enter and process new hire information for employees in Texas and other locations as needed.
- Review and verify I-9 documentation and employment eligibility records to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee files and HR records.
- Provide administrative support for day-to-day HR operations, policies, and employee services.
- Assist with HR compliance initiatives and audits as needed. Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or additional coursework in Human Resources, Payroll, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in payroll, benefits administration, human resources, or a related role preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with payroll and HRIS systems preferred.
