Building-Based Equity Liaison (Job #3951)

LOCATION:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Office of Equity and School Improvement is dedicated to elevating access and opportunity for all by nurturing an inclusive community. To support this mission as well as the goals of the CCPS Strategic Plan and the CCPS Equity Plan, Equity Liaisons will recruit and form an equity team in the school building. This person will work with his/her team and administration to develop a school action plan, set goals, implement supporting activities, and provide evidence of success.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

Possess a passion for promoting equity and the ability to engage others in the work.2. Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to students, teachers, staff, central office personnel, parents, and community3. Be viewed as an initiative-taker who is committed to driving the CCPS equity mission and vision within their building4. Have the experience and comfort level necessary to engage in contemporary topics dealing with equity and cultural responsiveness which may at times be difficult5. Have a deep understanding of student-centered instructional practices that promotes students as independent learners6. Demonstrate effective and engaging presentation skills7. Have some experience with providing professional development8. Be willing to support colleagues in developing and applying an equity lens to address inequities9. Be viewed as a leader in his/her school10. Be willing to commit to participating in four full day and three after school mandatory District Equity Leadership Team meetings11. Be willing to collaborate with other school building teams and conduct regular equity team meetings12. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate13. Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to those responsibilities listed below

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBLITIES, AND DUTIES

1. Assist building leadership with the creation and implementation of the annual Building Equity Action Plan.1. Participate in four full day and three after school mandatory District Equity Leadership Team meetings.2. Recruit and chair a school equity team.3. Plan and facilitate a minimum of one equity team meeting monthly.4. Provide school-wide equity professional development that includes mandatory countywide training modules.5. Assist school leadership in analyzing all aspects of the school through an equity lens.6. Create monthly communications for the school community.7. Participate with other school committees to establish partnerships that focus on equity-based initiatives meeting the needs of all students.8. Submit quarterly logs to the District Equity Supervisor in a timely fashion.9. Act as liaison between school leadership and the Supervisor of Equity and School Improvement.10. Hold monthly meetings with school leadership.11. Facilitate a minimum of two extension of learning activities outside teacher work hours.12. Maintain constant communication with the Supervisor of Equity and School Improvement.13. Submit annual evidence and evaluation of equity activities.

OTHER DUTIES

Performs related work as required or assigned by the school principal.

Position requires significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical school environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current year Extra Pay for Extra Duty Longevity Pay Schedule.

School Year 2026-27

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.

This position remains open until it is filled. References must be directly related to work experience and must include immediate supervisor.

Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
