Job Description

Job Description This position serves as a data analyst and change agent within the Cultural Enrichment and Education (CEE) Section of the Michigan State Police (MSP). It is responsible for assessing the internal culture, climate, and demographic data to identify gaps and trends affecting organizational effectiveness, equity, and inclusion, while monitoring and evaluating components of the CEE strategic plan for alignment with departmental and statewide priorities. This position identifies systemic barriers and patterns of unconscious biases that limit equitable opportunities and representation and uses data driven analysis and stakeholder engagement to develop targeted strategies that strengthen an inclusive organizational culture. A key responsibility includes contributing to the MSP Annual Performance Report related to biased policing complaints, citizen concerns, and accountability measures by analyzing data, identifying trends, and providing actionable recommendations to leadership. This role also supports and advances digital accessibility (DA) initiatives by promoting compliance with accessibility standards across internal and external content. Additionally, it serves as the department liaison to the MSP Museum and Learning Center and as a member of the Museum Committee, supporting historical preservation and public engagement efforts. This position collaborates with the Office of the Director, Recruiting and Selection Section, Organizational Development Division, Training Division, Field Services Bureau, the Michigan Department of Civil Rights (MDCR), and other stakeholders to develop and implement action plans that address identified gaps, enhance workforce development, and promote a diverse and qualified workforce. Finally, this position is responsible for engaging, educating, and instructing members at all levels on CEE principles and initiatives, while consistently operating with impartiality, professionalism, and a commitment to service in support of the MSP's mission, vision, and values.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) is a full-service policing agency with statewide jurisdiction, providing over 60 different services either directly to Michigan residents or in support of other law enforcement agencies. The MSP personnel most visible to the public are the uniform troopers whose primary responsibilities include traffic enforcement, crime prevention and investigation, and community engagement and service. Required Education and Experience Education Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major. Experience Departmental Analyst 9 No specific type or amount is required. Departmental Analyst 10 One year of professional experience. Departmental Analyst P11 Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service. Alternate Education and Experience Departmental Analyst 9 - 12 Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
