New River Tire Recycling and Rubberlogix are North Carolina-based companies that recycle scrap tires and manufacture recycled rubber flooring and related products. We currently have approximately 70 employees and expect to grow beyond 100 employees over the next several years . We're looking for a hands-on HR Generalist who can help us build the people, processes, and culture that will support that growth. This isn't a position where you'll spend your day buried in paperwork. You'll be on the floor, working with employees and managers, helping solve problems, recruiting great people, improving our HR processes, and helping build a stronger organization. If you enjoy people, problem-solving, accountability, and building something better , this could be the opportunity you're looking for. What You'll Do You'll have responsibility across the full HR function, including: Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees, supervisors, managers, and leadership. Manage recruiting from job posting through hiring and onboarding. Build and maintain a strong pipeline for production, maintenance, transportation, and administrative positions. Lead new-hire orientation and develop a consistent 30/60/90-day onboarding process. Partner with managers on employee relations, attendance, performance, coaching, corrective action, and disciplinary matters. Conduct and document employee investigations and workplace concerns. Maintain employee personnel records and HR systems with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality. Administer company policies, PTO, benefits, leave, and other employee programs. Coordinate required employee training and maintain training records. Assist with workers' compensation and workplace safety-related HR matters. Help ensure compliance with applicable federal and North Carolina employment requirements. Develop and improve HR policies, procedures, forms, and processes. Track and report key workforce metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, recruiting activity, and open positions. Help develop supervisor training, employee-development programs, and career-growth opportunities. Help build an HR function capable of supporting a workforce of 100+ employees. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is experienced, confident, approachable, organized, and willing to roll up their sleeves. You'll be a strong candidate if you have: 3+ years of progressive HR experience , preferably in manufacturing, industrial, distribution, logistics, recycling, or another hourly workforce environment. Experience handling employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and HR administration. Working knowledge of federal and North Carolina employment practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong judgment and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations professionally. The confidence to have difficult conversations while treating people fairly and respectfully. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience working with hourly employees and multiple shifts. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR/payroll systems.
Preferred qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or similar certification. Manufacturing or industrial HR experience. Experience building HR processes in a growing organization. The Person We're Looking For We don't need someone who simply checks boxes. We need someone who will take ownership . You should be comfortable walking onto the production floor, talking with employees, sitting down with a supervisor to work through a problem, and then getting back to the office to make sure the process is documented and followed through. You should be able to balance employee advocacy with business needs , maintain confidentiality, use good judgment, and hold people accountable fairly and consistently. Most importantly, you should enjoy building things. Our HR function is growing, and you'll have an opportunity to help shape what it becomes.
