SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties and working closely with the Director of HR in supporting the University. The position must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. This position is responsible for enhancing department functions with a focus on employee training (developing, planning, and implementing), onboarding, and employee orientation programs, and implementing maintaining the University policy manual. The position will also have responsibilities related to employee relations, performance management, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for developing, implementing, and tracking employee training. Training will include online and live training presentations. Training topics will include compliance, best practices, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Also responsible for multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity programing. Coordinates the employee life cycle experience. Conducts recruitment effort for employees and new-employee orientations. Will coordinate with our HR Coordinator to develop and ensure our onboarding/employee orientation and offboarding programs (including exit interviews) are based on best practices. Conduct employee opinion surveys. Will review, improve and implement our performance management system. With the assistance of the Benefits Manager, will implement and track our FML program and may oversee related programs of STD and LTD. Will cross-train with our HR Coordinator, benefits manager, and others to ensure continuity of operations. Assists with employee relations including coaching and conducting employee investigations (with written reports with recommendations) Works with the Director on implementing the University ADA policy. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed. Prepares and maintains University policies and procedures manual. Implement and coordinate HR programs supporting organizational strategic objectives for creating and maintaining a model work place, including but not limited to, promotional career advancement programs, employee participation and input vehicles, and management development and training. Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree and four to six years of human resource experience. A minimum of 3 years of higher education experience preferred; Compensation management experience preferred. Experience working with a diverse work force and a track record of embracing and promoting different perspectives enabled through culture, experience, and values.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
SHRM Certification preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must demonstrate professional level oral and written communications skills including grammar.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must be competent in general math.
