This role is responsible for administering HR compliance programs, employee benefits operations, leave management administration, and regulatory reporting activities. The Benefits and Compliance Specialist will play a key role in ensuring HR processes are efficient, compliant, and well organized while supporting employees throughout their employment lifecycle. This position works closely with other HR team members, managers, payroll, and employees to maintain accurate records, administer employment-related programs, and support compliance with federal, state and local laws. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with remote work eligibility. The anticipated annual salary range for this role is $70,100 to $79,400, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is also eligible for a bonus opportunity. why Merjent? We are proud of our reputation for delivering quality work and building long-term, trusting relationships with our clients and with regulatory agencies. responsibilities Administer employee leave programs, including coordination and tracking of FMLA, state leave programs, ADA accommodations, and other protected leave requests in partnership with employees, managers, payroll, and benefits providers. Support Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and EEO-1 reporting activities, including workforce data audits, preparation, and annual submissions. Maintain, audit, and organize employee records, documentation, and HR databases to ensure data accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and company requirements. Support benefits administration processes, including benefits billing coordination, eligibility tracking, and employee support related to benefit programs and leave administration. Conduct periodic audits related to employee records, leave balances, benefits administration, and HR compliance documentation. Prepare and support proposals, audit and annual census data requests, compliance reporting, and internal workforce analytics. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent and efficient HR operational processes and regulatory compliance. Support development and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, and employee communications related to compliance and benefits programs. qualifications and experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum of two years of direct experience with benefits administration, leave management, or HR compliance. Experience administering employee leave programs such as
FMLA, ADA
accommodations, and multi-state leave requirements are strongly preferred. Experience supporting
EEOC/EEO-1
reporting, Workforce Certificates, HR compliance programs, or HR systems preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and confidential records. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Proficiency with HRIS, payroll, benefits administration, and workforce management systems preferred. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite are preferred, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
