Job Description

Human Resources and Operations Specialist Job Summary:
Right at Home Central Virginia is a locally owned senior home care agency serving families across the Blue Ridge region. We are seeking an HR & Operations Specialist to own the full employee lifecycle for our caregiver workforce — from sourcing through performance management — while also supporting the day-to-day operational functions that keep our office running. This role reports to the Chief of Staff and is a critical contributor to our growth trajectory.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruiting & Hiring (30%): Own the end-to-end recruitment process for caregiver roles Manage applicant tracking and candidate pipelines Conduct structured interviews, reference checks, and pre-employment screenings Extend offers, manage candidate experience, and maintain a strong employer brand with hourly applicant pools Onboarding & Performance Management (25%): Execute a structured onboarding program Conduct new employee orientation Maintain accurate personnel files; administer and track performance reviews Own disciplinary processes in compliance with policy and applicable law Payroll & Benefits Administration (25%): Process weekly payroll accurately and on time Manage benefits enrollment, administration and annual open enrollment Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws and benefits regulations Office Operations (10%) Manage office supplies, vendor relationships, and facility upkeep Coordinate equipment needs, mail, and general administrative functions Support a well-organized, professional office environment Scheduling Backup (<10%): Serve as a designated backup to the Scheduler during planned and unplanned absences Use scheduling software to fill shifts and manage last-minute coverage
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years HR experience with direct ownership of recruiting and hourly workforce performance management. Demonstrated track record of high-volume recruiting in home care, healthcare, retail, hospitality, food service, or similar industries with distributed hourly staff Experience administering payroll and employee benefits Strong proficiency in HRIS and payroll software Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and see each through to completion Comfortable operating independently in a fast-moving, small-team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Home Care industry experience High-volume recruiting instincts Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
HR Certification Core Competencies:
Project Follow-Through Discretion & Professionalism Process Orientation with a bias toward optimization
