Absher Construction is looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team in Puyallup! This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys the technical side of HR while still wanting to be a trusted resource for employees and leaders. You'll have hands-on responsibility across benefits, leave administration, HRIS management, onboarding, compliance, employee relations, and investigations while helping us continue to improve how HR operates. We're also in the middle of implementing ADP Workforce Now , so this person will play an important role in maintaining accurate employee information during the transition and helping us make better use of technology and more efficient HR processes going forward. The HR Generalist reports to the Director of Human Resources and serves as a key resource for employees navigating benefits, leave, and other HR matters. What You'll Do Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, including orientations, pre-employment requirements, employee changes, and craft employee processes Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS information, including transfers, compensation changes, title changes, and other employee transactions Administer employee benefit programs, including enrollments, qualifying changes, COBRA correspondence, carrier communication, billing reconciliation, and open enrollment Support administration of 401(k) and ESOP plans, including employee changes, distributions, audit documentation, and compliance requirements Administer protected leaves and workplace accommodations, including determining eligibility, maintaining documentation, monitoring leave usage, and communicating with employees and managers Provide guidance to managers regarding performance management, documentation, progressive discipline, and performance improvement plans Conduct employee relations investigations involving complaints, policy violations, harassment, discrimination, and other workplace concerns Maintain compliance with I-9, E-Verify, employment laws, and company policies Partner with Payroll to ensure employee transactions are processed accurately and on time Support employee engagement initiatives, surveys, recognition programs, and communication efforts Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and improve workflows through technology Assist with HR projects and other department needs as they arise The role includes substantial ownership of HR administration and benefits, along with leave/accommodations, employee relations, compliance, and employee experience responsibilities. What We're Looking For 5+ years of related Human Resources experience Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance requirements Experience administering employee benefits Strong knowledge of protected leave and accommodation processes Experience supporting employee relations, investigations, and performance management Strong HRIS experience; ADP Workforce Now experience is preferred Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to build trust and rapport with employees and leaders at all levels Strong judgment and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive matters Comfortable learning new technology and identifying opportunities to improve processes Bachelor's degree or Human Resources certification preferred Where This Role Can Go We're looking for someone who wants to continue developing their HR expertise and take on increasing responsibility over time. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. Employees must also be able to comply with applicable safety requirements when working in the office or visiting jobsites.
