Location Statesboro Campus - Statesboro, GA Department Information SOAR Orientation Job Summary The Student Assistant will support SOAR Orientation as a Southern Ambassador on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026. Southern Ambassadors serve as official student representatives of Georgia Southern University, providing prospective students and their families with engaging, informative, and welcoming campus experiences. Ambassadors play a key role in recruitment efforts by leading campus tours, sharing personal experiences, and supporting the Office of Admissions in daily operations and special events. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period. Responsibilities Leads interactive and informative campus tours for prospective students and guests Delivers presentations and share personal student experiences in a professional and engaging manner Provides exceptional customer service to all visitors Assists with admissions events, including open houses, preview days, and special group visits Maintains up-to-date knowledge of university programs, campus resources, and student life Represents the university with professionalism, enthusiasm, and school spirit Supports administrative tasks within the Office of Admissions as needed Fosters a positive environment for all campus visitors Shift Specifics Up to 15 hours per week Flexible with schedule of availability Shifts available between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Must be available for a least 2-3 shifts per week Attendance at mandatory training sessions and team meetings required Additional availability for special events, open houses, and recruitment program Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education Current undergraduate student enrolled at Georgia Southern University in good academic standing Preferred Experience Strong communication and public speaking skills Experience in leadership, customer service, or student involvement Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Comfortable speaking to groups of varying sizes Knowledge of campus resources, student organizations, and academic programs Previous involvement in campus tours, orientation, or ambassador programs Proposed Salary $12.00 per hour This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
