Director of Advancement Position Classification:
Exempt, Full-time About the Role The Baddour Center is filling to capacity, and we need a mission-driven recruiter to help us get there. This role blends sales, marketing, and community outreach with a deeply personal purpose: connecting adults with intellectual disabilities — and the families who love them — to a home where they can thrive. You'll own the full recruitment and admissions funnel, from first inquiry to move-in day, while building the relationships, campaigns, and referral networks that keep our community growing. You'll also plan and run our YOUR Summer Program and/or year-round respite care. This role serves on the Advancement Team, working alongside development and marketing colleagues to grow awareness and support for The Center — we're happy to walk through how that team works in more detail during the interview. This isn't solely a desk job. It's part road-warrior, part relationship-builder, part brand ambassador — for an organization whose "product" changes lives. Expect a mix of travel to schools, churches, and events across the region; time on campus with residents and families; and some evening and weekend hours, especially around events and the summer program. What You'll Do
- Build and execute a recruitment strategy for our residential and respite programs, with clear occupancy goals and pipeline targets, that aligns with Baddour's mission and values and appeals to our target audience(s).
- Establish and cultivate relationships with referral sources, such as schools, medical practitioners, trust officers, advocacy groups, churches, families, and other professionals in the field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
- Be a growth-minded member of the Advancement Team to market The Center's programs and facilities — brochures, ads, digital content, campus tours, etc. While on the Advancement Team, your primary goal and lens is Resident Recruitment.
- Become familiar with other IDD facilities, program options, and intentional communities, what they offer, and how Baddour compares. Build knowledge and resources about the population we serve.
- Lead the "Heart to Heart" outreach initiatives, representing Baddour at vendor and transition fairs including but not limited to high schools, churches, and community events across the region; and plan and implement special event for outreach as needed.
- Guide prospective families through the admissions process — phone, email, video call, and in-person — with warmth and responsiveness. This also includes preparing packets, answering questions, giving campus tours, collecting paperwork, and when applicable, offering resources to unqualified prospects during discovery.
- Partner with the Admissions Team on screening, applications, and move in logistics. As Team lead, you will schedule meetings, offer insight and follow-up with the Residential team regarding vacancies in order to establish move-in dates.
- Plan and run the YOUR Summer Program — from initial planning to day-to-day implementation - as well as schedule year-round respite care.
- Utilize the CRM, including accurate, timely data entries, to accurately capture prospect data and progress. Track and report recruitment metrics to leadership on a pre-determined basis and/or as-needed.
- Prepare and manage annual Recruitment budget(s). Submit expenses in a proper and timely manner.
- All other duties as assigned. What You Bring
- A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- A heart for serving individuals with intellectual disabilities — prior experience working with this population is a plus, but a genuine desire to serve them is what matters most. Ability to talk about Baddour's mission with conviction, as well as competence.
- An energetic self-starter mentality: you take initiative without waiting to be told, follow through on what you start, and take feedback well — pivoting quickly when necessary.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
- Strong customer service and organization skills. Communication, timeliness, and follow-through are essential to the success of this role, as well as the ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks.
- Good presentation / public speaking skills and the ability to present to diverse audiences. You will enhance the reputation of the organization through knowledge, integrity, and ownership of the role as the first and primary impression of Baddour for prospects, families, referral sources.
- Willingness to travel locally and out of state. Responsible to load, transport and setup displays, and other materials at events. Some evening and weekend hours are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel) and comfort learning new tools (CRM, email platforms, etc.).
- Strong work ethic, highly dependable, and adaptable The Baddour Center is an equal oportunity employer and a Mississippi drug free workplace.
