Job Description

The Pre-Professional Program (PPP) internship is focused on building transferable professional and personal skills. Primary goals include developing public speaking and communication ability, expanding networking abilities, improving time management, and gaining real-world leadership and public relations experience. The PPP interns bridge the gap between new students and the campus community. PPP interns will share their campus experience to aid in enhancing pre-professional student engagement and retention, and support campus events through relatable, peer-to-peer interactions. Career Readiness Competencies Adjust tone and approach based on audience (e.g., peers vs. supervisors). Present ideas or updates in a clear and organized manner. Break down tasks into steps to complete work more efficiently. Contribute to creating opportunities that allow all individuals to participate and succeed. Follow instructions, meet deadlines, and deliver quality work.
Recruitment Events:
Meet with prospective students to highlight key campus facilities and resources for pre-professional track students.
Event Support:
Assist with on-campus events programs and events.
Communication & Engagement:
Respond to emails, answer inquiries, and connect with prospective students using peer communication platforms.
Mentorship:
Serve as an ongoing resource for first-year students to help them navigate their academic and professional pathways.
Professional Development:
Builds highly transferable skills in leadership, communication, and public relations. Direct exposure to faculty, alumni, staff, and future students.
Enrolled Status:
Must be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking student in good academic standing with upper-level standing who is enrolled within a pre-professional track serviced by the office.
School Spirit:
A strong passion for the institution and a desire to share personal, positive college experiences.
Communication Skills:
Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills; ability to interact confidently with all people.
Leadership & Reliability:
Demonstrated aptitude to lead. Punctual, dependable, and capable of working both independently and in a team environment.
Flexibility:
Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and/or weekend events. This role requires approximately 4 hours per week and lasts 10 weeks. Employees in this role will be paid $500, paid out in even installments over the duration of the role.
