Job Description
United Lutheran Seminary builds and sustains an affirming and diverse learning community of faithful, well-educated leaders skilled at guiding grace-filled encounters. Deeply rooted in the history of Lutheranism within Christianity, we witness to and participate in the work of God in the world through spiritual leadership, public advocacy, impactful worship, and care of neighbor. We are seeking a highly motivated, dedicated and detail-oriented Admissions Recruiter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in outreach and recruitment of potential students for the various degree and certificate programs at ULS. The admissions recruiter will oversee direct contact with potential students to help generate robust enrollment at United Lutheran Seminary and work with students to complete the full application process. This person will engage in face-to-face interactions and must be able to demonstrate excitement and enthusiasm in a wide variety of recruitment situations and discuss discernment with prospective students to solidify a start date. This position requires extensive travel within the United States.
Key Responsibilities:
- Increase potential student lists through direct and relational contacts and engage in proactive recruitment, working from a go-and-tell model by executing the recruitment plan created collaboratively with Admissions and Enrollment Services, obtaining and following up with digital inquiries from recruitment events and denominational forums and conferences.
- Promote and create interest in ULS and its programs, with the result that interested prospects apply and enroll in the Seminary
- Assist the Office of Advancement with recruitment and execution of summer outreach
- Initiate connections with new potential students and students currently in department records using social media, phone, and virtual communication platforms and carrying management responsibilities for the admissions web pages in collaboration with the Sr. Manager of Communications and Marketing
- Support admissions' goals to develop a more multicultural student body and to increase student enrollment
- Connect with college and university campus personnel (e.g., chaplains, career services, program chairs, faculty, and community organizations) to increase referrals and a ULS presence on their campuses with an eye toward building a pipeline of students interested in matriculating at ULS
- Attend and table at various conferences and grad fairs in collaboration with the Admissions and Student Services team including but not limited to ELCA Churchwide Assembly and related Conferences, Synod assemblies, professional conferences, regional denominational and nondenominational events, as well as a wide array of ecumenical communions. The qualified candidate will have the following:
- Minimum educational requirement is a bachelor's degree. Familiarity with seminaries and theological education is preferred.
- Affinity with the values and mission of the Seminary is required; understanding of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) tradition is preferred
- A collaborative working style
- Strong oral and written communication skills, and public-speaking skills
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work with people of diverse cultures, backgrounds and languages
- Use of active listening and discernment skills
- Working knowledge of database systems
- Working knowledge of MS Office products
- Significant travel to various recruiting events, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to navigate to and around all areas of the college campus and to other campuses for recruitment events
- Plan and independently travel via car, bus, or plane
- Hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving history
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
