Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Adaptive Skills Trainer with a Master's Degree in a Human Services field to empower individuals with diverse needs to achieve greater independence and quality of life. Duties Design, implement, and evaluate individualized training programs focused on improving daily living skills, communication, social interactions, and behavioral management. Provide direct support to clients during activities that promote independence in home, community, and educational settings. Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as grooming, hygiene, meal preparation, and personal care routines. Utilize effective behavior management strategies to reinforce positive behaviors and address challenging behaviors constructively. Support clients with communication needs by utilizing techniques such as American Sign Language or other augmentative communication methods. Collect data on client progress and document interventions accurately for ongoing assessment and reporting purposes. Administer medication as directed following proper protocols and maintain detailed medication administration records. Operate standard passenger cars safely to transport clients to appointments, community outings, or activities while ensuring their safety at all times. Collaborate with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support tailored to each individual's goals. Maintain a safe environment by adhering to health and safety guidelines including first aid and CPR procedures when necessary. Requirements Master's Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Special Education or related field from an accredited institution. Proven experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders. Knowledge of behavior management techniques and experience implementing them effectively. Familiarity with special education practices and supporting patients with cognitive disabilities. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal skills and alternative methods such as American Sign Language if applicable. Experience working in behavioral health or social services settings preferred. Valid driver's license with the ability to operate a standard passenger car safely for client transportation purposes. Certification in First Aid and CPR required; additional certifications in medication administration or behavior support are a plus. Strong interpersonal skills for client communication, team collaboration, and family engagement. Capable of collecting data accurately and maintaining detailed documentation of services provided.
