Job Description

Position Overview The Skills Trainer delivers accessible, engaging, and individualized Pre-Employment Transition Services to 15-21 year old students with disabilities participating in Aspire Youth Development's DVRS Paid Work-Based Learning program. The Trainer helps students explore careers, build workplace skills, understand education and training options, strengthen self-advocacy, and prepare for successful paid work experiences in competitive, integrated settings. The position works closely with students, families, employers, schools, DVRS counselors, and Aspire program staff. Key Responsibilities Pre-ETS Instruction
  • Deliver individual and group instruction in all five required Pre-ETS areas: job exploration counseling; work-based learning experiences; counseling on postsecondary education and training opportunities; workplace readiness training; and instruction in self-advocacy.
  • Facilitate lessons on career interests, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, professional conduct, financial literacy, transportation, workplace safety, disability disclosure, requesting accommodations, and employee rights and responsibilities.
  • Administer or support career-interest, strengths, and workplace-readiness assessments and use results to help students develop realistic employment and education goals.
  • Adapt curriculum, materials, pacing, and instructional methods to students' learning, communication, accessibility, and support needs; coordinate auxiliary aids and accommodations with appropriate staff. Work-Based Learning Preparation & Student Support
  • Identify and engage local employers in Burlington and Camden Counties to provide appropriate paid WBLE placements aligned with students' interests, strengths, support needs, and career goals, allowing each student to complete 150 hours of work experience in a competitive, integrated setting.
  • Prepare students for paid WBLE placements through orientation, workplace training and expectations, travel planning, employer research, and individualized coaching.
  • Maintain regular contact with students and employers throughout the work experience, conduct ongoing worksite visits, and provide on-site job coaching as needed to support students and reinforce workplace expectations.
  • Monitor student progress and promptly address attendance, performance, communication, accommodation, transportation, or other concerns in coordination with the student, employer, Work-Based Learning Coordinator, family, school, and DVRS counselor, as appropriate.   • Complete timely and accurate attendance records, service notes, assessments, progress documentation, incident reports, and other records required by DVRS and Aspire.
  • Participate in outreach, intake, staff meetings, training, case conferences, employer or school meetings, program evaluation, and continuous-improvement activities.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and comply with Aspire policies, DVRS requirements, applicable disability and nondiscrimination laws, mandated-reporting obligations, and workplace safety procedures. Qualifications & Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in human services education, special education, rehabilitation counseling, social work, psychology, human services, workforce development, or a related field, plus at least two years of direct service experience working with youth or young adults with disabilities.; two or more years of relevant experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate interactive training for adolescents and young adults with varied learning styles, support needs, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of disability inclusion, reasonable accommodations, transition planning, youth development, workplace readiness, and professional boundaries.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, documentation, and basic technology skills, including Microsoft 365 or comparable systems.
  • Ability to travel throughout Burlington and Camden Counties and work occasional evenings or non-traditional hours based on program and worksite schedules.

$50,000.00 - $52,500.00 per year
