What You'll Do:
The Retail Training Specialist provides individual and small group training to a diverse employee population. This requires the ability to develop curriculum and training plans, and facilitate coaching and training in a variety of settings. Provide operational training to new hire personnel, including orientation and onboarding, and other assigned team members in accordance with established guidelines in standard operating procedures. Responsible for creating a motivating learning environment, assessing and tracking student progress and modifying approach/supports as needed for successful skill mastery. Support progress on team member development plans and actively coordinates training opportunities for individuals' improved performance and career development. Schedule and coordinate continued training and mentoring for personnel, providing continued support and guidance to trainees, managers, and mentors. Regularly travel to sites to coach trainees on assigned tasks and training curriculum. Stay current on all business updates; policy changes, software updates, price changes, procedural updates and changes, production quota updates, new forms, etc.; communicating changes and training personnel promptly and thoroughly to ensure seamless transitions and full understanding throughout the team. Utilize recommendations and observations from customer/donor surveys, assessments, floor walks, audits and secret shops to prioritize site needs, further develop individual and team members skills and enhance the retail experience for all stakeholders. Education, Experience, and Skills that are a must: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience in retail settings, preferably in management roles. Strong knowledge of retail practices, inventory control, and exceptional customer service skills required. Minimum of 2 years of formal experience in training and/or instruction, including the development and delivery of training curriculum to diverse populations. Must have a valid NC driver's license, acceptable driving record, reliable personal vehicle, adequate vehicle insurance coverage, and ability to travel locally on a daily basis. Sufficient knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting procedures to understand sales reports incidental to store operations, processing information and merchandise through computer systems and POS register system. Excellent computer skills and expertise with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint). Comfortable and effective at handling customers and situations without input from others and in alignment with organizational mission, values, and philosophies. Due to the nature of the position as a front-line trainer, successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to be creative, self-sufficient, and proactive, with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to work alone, multi-task, and juggle competing priorities. Flexibility and responsiveness to frequent change is critical in this role. Must have a good command of written and spoken English, including good grammar (Bi-lingual in Spanish is strongly preferred). Must successfully pass pre-employment drug and background screens.
Pay Range & Schedule:
This position is hourly/non-exempt. Wage is $19-$20 per hour, based on qualification/experience. Position is full-time. Work is generally conducted Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, with regular requirements for evening and/or weekend support. Position is located at our Home Office in Greensboro, NC, with daily travel throughout our 5-county service footprint including Alamance, Caswell, Guilford, Randolph, and Rockingham Counties.
