Job Description

Animal Care Technician / Kennel Technician Join Our Team at Whispering Pines Pet Resort! Do you have a passion for animals and enjoy working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment? We're looking for dependable, hardworking animal lovers to join our team as Animal Care Technicians/Kennel Technicians . If you're committed to providing exceptional care for pets while delivering outstanding customer service, we'd love to hear from you. Position Summary As a Pet Care Employee, you will play an essential role in ensuring the health, safety, comfort, and happiness of the pets entrusted to our care. This position involves daily animal care, kennel sanitation, monitoring pet health and behavior, and assisting clients both in person and over the phone. Primary Responsibilities Feed, water, and administer routine care according to each pet's individual needs. Exercise and monitor dogs throughout the day. Clean, disinfect, and maintain kennels, cages, bedding, play areas, and common spaces to the highest standards. Observe animal health, behavior, and overall well-being, promptly reporting any concerns to a supervisor. Maintain accurate records regarding feeding, medications, behavior, and daily care. Assist in evaluating and safely matching dogs for group play. Answer incoming phone calls and assist customers in person with professionalism and courtesy. Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient front office and reception area. Work collaboratively with team members to ensure exceptional care and smooth daily operations. Perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the resort.
Qualifications Required:
Excellent reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail. Positive attitude with a strong team-player mentality. Ability to multitask in a busy, fast-paced environment. Prior animal care/kennel experience is not required, but beneficial.
Preferred:
Previous kennel, veterinary, daycare, boarding, grooming, or other professional animal care experience. Comfortable handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and personalities. Working knowledge of dog breeds, canine behavior, and common health concerns. Ability to recognize signs of illness, injury, or stress and communicate concerns appropriately. Experience with customer service and phone communication. Familiarity with administering medications is a plus. Physical Requirements This is an active position that requires: Standing and walking for most of the shift. Frequent bending, lifting, squatting, and kneeling. Safely handling dogs of various sizes and strength levels. Working both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Schedule & Availability Weekend and holiday availability is required , as these are our busiest times. Employees are scheduled to work either Saturday or Sunday every week , except during approved time off. Typical shifts are 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM & 2:00 PM - 8:00-9:00 PM Both part-time and full-time opportunities are available.
