We're looking for someone who wants to spend their days hiking mountain trails, exploring Steamboat with incredible dogs, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of pets and their owners. This isn't just a dog walking/pet sitting job. It's a position for someone who is dependable, physically active, highly responsible, and takes pride in providing exceptional care.

Powder Paws is one of Steamboat's premier professional pet care companies. We provide reliable, high-quality dog walking, adventure hikes, and pet sitting services for busy families who trust us with their homes and beloved pets. Our most popular services are off-leash pack hikes, 30 minute dog walks, and cat sitting visits. Our clients expect professionalism, excellent communication, and outstanding care —and that's exactly what we strive to deliver.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead individual and small-group dog adventures. Safely handle dogs with different personalities, sizes, and energy levels. Drive between client homes throughout the day. Follow client-specific written instructions and company policies and procedures. Enter client homes responsibly and securely. Monitor each animal's health, behavior, and safety. Communicate clearly with clients through visit reports, text updates, and photos. Work independently while representing Powder Paws professionally. Communicate with managers and team members proactively during shifts. No two days are the same, and you'll spend most of your workday outdoors.

… Loves hiking, skiing, running, or being active outdoors. Is dependable and shows up on time every day. Is calm, confident, and comfortable around all animals. Takes ownership and doesn't need constant supervision. Asks clarifying questions and has attention to detail. Communicates and can receive feedback professionally Enjoys working independently. Wants meaningful work with animals and people.
THIS JOB IS NOT A GOOD FIT IF
… You're frequently late or unreliable. You don't enjoy working outside in all types of Colorado weather. You're looking for a job where you'll be sitting most of the day. You're uncomfortable driving between appointments in ALL weather conditions. You struggle with communication, accountability, time management, closely following instructions, or working independently.
REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle (4WD vehicle required in the winter). Clean driving record. Comfortable walking several miles each day. Able to lift 50+ pounds. Smartphone with a working camera and reliable service. Able to pass a background check. Available at least one weekday between 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM. Comfortable working in all seasons and weather conditions. Previous professional animal experience is a plus but not required. We provide training for the right person with the right attitude.
COMPENSATION & PERKS
Base hourly rate is $17/hour. Guaranteed minimum paid hours. Unpooled tips ($10-$300+ per pay period). Mileage reimbursement. Current average total compensation is $20.82/hour. Pay averages from $100-$500+ per week. Paid training and education. Staff Reward Program, periodic gas reimbursements, holiday pay, and bonuses. Flexible scheduling. Work outdoors every day.
