An Animal Care Worker or Manager manages animal care and grooming for a retail store that sells pets or for a pet grooming business. May also provide animal care and grooming at a kennel. Works with animals in shelters or rescue organizations. Works primarily with dogs and cats. Assists veterinarians with vaccinations or other procedures; screens people who want to adopt an animal from a shelter and provides information about caring for animals.

Job Description

Must be available year-round! Looking for help Monday-Friday Responsibilities of this job include :
  • Supervising and interacting in doggie play groups
  • Handling both small and large dogs
  • Cleaning up after the dogs
  • Disinfecting play areas, toys, rooms..etc.
  • Being able to read dog body language and recognize different dog behaviors/signs
  • Maintaining a happy and safe environment for the dogs
  • Possibly washing dishes.. etc
  • Possibly preparing meals as needed as well as continuously refilling water bowls
  • Possibly giving Dogs of all sizes baths
  • Taking photos for clients
  • Possibly sleeping in furnished apartment with dogs who pay for special time
  • Possibly swimming with dogs during swim lessons
  • Helping with general upkeep of kennel if needed Skills required
  • Friendly attitude, ability to work as a team
  • Ability to follow directions and take initiative on tasks
  • Attention to detail
  • Time Management
  • Prior experience working with dogs is preferred, but willing to train someone who is already comfortable around all types of dogs
  • Must have own transportation
  • Prior customer service experience a plus
  • Flexible schedule
