Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily care and husbandry for a variety of animals in the zoo
  • Follow established protocols and procedures for animal feeding, cleaning, and enrichment
  • Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the appropriate staff
  • Participate in Keeper Chats, tours and animal encounters
  • Maintain accurate records of animal observations, medical treatments, and other relevant data
  • Collaborate with other zoo staff to develop and implement animal management plans
  • Participate in training programs to enhance knowledge of animal care techniques and best practices
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of animal care and husbandry practices
  • Experience working as a Zookeeper or in a similar role preferred
  • Ability to safely handle and restrain animals when necessary
  • Knowledge of animal physiology and behavior
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old Degree in zoology or related field preferred Must have a minimum 1 year experience in a zoological setting working with exotic animals Must have good communication skills, written and verbal Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions such as extreme heat Must have the ability to work individually or with a team or without direct supervision
